College Football Playoff selection committee meal lineup during games revealed
While the inevitable public outcry from some fanbases is surely not enjoyable, life on the College Football Playoff selection committee is pretty cushy, as job descriptions go. Meet up, watch football, rank some teams, and head home.
And from the cushy confines of the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine, Texas, the selection committee is watching Saturday’s conference championship action in sumptuous comfort. Plus, they’re eating excellently, too.
In response to someone implying the committee is out-of-touch with football fandom by sharing a video of the group watching the games in a sterile-looking room, CFP director Allison Doughty shared a picture of the menu board.
It’s quite the feast.
- Breakfast, 8:30-10 a.m.: Fruit, pastries, yogurt, oatmeal, grits, eggs and omelets, sausage, potatoes and CFP “world famous bacon”
- 10 a.m.: Cinnamon rolls and kolaches
- 12 p.m.: Soup, salads and sandwiches
- 1-8 p.m.: Freshly popped popcorn
- 2-5 p.m.: Nacho bar, charcuterie and fruit
- 6-8 p.m.: Wings, hot dogs, hamburgers, shrimp, grilled chicken and chili
- Halftime: Chips, dip and cake pops
- All day: Snack boxes, drinks and ice cream
Something for everyone, and with catering as such, it’s hard not to be envious of the committee’s setup.
The odds took a late shift on which team would make the last at-large spot
The odds to make the College Football Playoff have swung quite a bit in the wake of Saturday’s results in conference championship games, particularly the ACC title game.

According to FanDuel, SMU has now moved to -670 to make the field after enduring a heart-breaking, last-second loss to Clemson. Vegas is heavily favoring the Mustangs to make the field.
That comes at the direct expense of Alabama, which has moved to +430 to make the field.
Prior to the second half of the ACC title game, Alabama might have been smooth sailing to the final berth in the College Football Playoff field. SMU trailed Clemson 24-7 at the half and was in definite danger of falling below the Crimson Tide in the rankings with a blowout loss.
Instead, Rhett Lashlee‘s squad fought tooth and nail with the season on the line, ultimately tying the game at 31 with less than 30 seconds to play.
A win, though, was elusive.
Clemson managed to quickly march into field goal range, where Nolan Hauser connected on a 56-yard attempt to win the game. That sent Clemson to the College Football Playoff as a conference champion.
