This week, College Football Playoff Selection Committee provided another update to its Top 25 rankings. After much debate over the criteria used and the order of teams, the committee released an updated look at which teams have the best resumes, and which teams have work to do in their final games of the season.

During ESPN’s Tuesday night reveal show, the CFP Selection Committee provided another major update on how they view each Top 25 team based on the latest results and ongoing power struggles between key storyline builders. As the season nears a conclusion, the committee looks at each data point for evenly matched teams and weighs the value of certain wins and losses.

After missing last week’s meeting amid an NCAA investigation and Big Ten talks surrounding the Michigan sign-stealing scandal, the CFP confirmed athletic director Warde Manuel would return to the panel this week to provide his input on the rankings. Last week, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was given a three-game suspension running through the end of the regular season. A pending court date will determine whether he returns to the sideline before then.

The seven undefeated teams remaining after Week 11 are Georgia, Florida State, James Madison, Liberty, Michigan, Ohio State, and Washington. As the season continues to hit fans with plenty surprises, take a look at the third edition of the 2023 CFP Top 25 rankings.

1. Georgia (10-0)

Georgia’s win over Missouri started a conversation about whether their resume merited a move about Ohio State in the CFP rankings but did not result in a change. A dominant performance against Ole Miss this week sparked the debate once more. With Brock Bowers back on the field earlier than anticipated, Georgia has already locked up an SEC Championship game appearance against Alabama with two games to play.

The remaining schedule provides the Bulldogs with plenty opportunity to build the resume even further, with a regular season game against Tennessee and the postseason matchup with Alabama. A rivalry game with Georgia Tech rounds out the remainder of the schedule before the CFP begins.

2. Ohio State (10-0)

Ohio State continues the dominant run through Big Ten opponents and looks primed to face Michigan in the final week of the regular season with plenty on the line for both sides. Marvin Harrison Jr. continues to draw attention for his production on offense, and the defense hopes to get several key pieces back from injury soon.

A home game against Minnesota stands between the Buckeyes and their rivalry matchup, making focus key for Ryan Day and his team as they look to run the table on the way to the CFP.

3. Michigan (10-0)

Michigan fans and players have sent a variety of messages to the rest of the college football world over the past week, from “Free Harbaugh” chants to a series of social media posts saying “bet,” the rally cry worked once more as Sherrone Moore led them to a win over Penn State. Despite uncertainty about Jim Harbaugh’s availability to coach on the sideline each Saturday, he remains part of the team throughout the week at practice.

Maryland serves as the final tune-up for Michigan before they face Ohio State in the regular season finale with a place in the Big Ten Championship on the line.

Florida State took care of business against Miami, in a game where players and coaches stressed the importance of the in-state rivalry, and continues their undefeated run through the ACC. Already booking their place in the conference championship game, the Seminoles remain above Washington and Oregon in the final playoff spot.

A tune-up game against North Alabama prepares Florida State for a road game against another in-state rival, Florida.

5. Washington (10-0)

Washington took care of business against Utah, continuing to showcase the offensive talent they possess with another performance above 35 points. After questions about their form, the Huskies have responded by knocking off USC and Utah in consecutive weeks to back up the result against Oregon.

The regular season wraps up with a road game against Oregon State and a rivalry matchup with Washington State. Still controlling their destiny within the conference, another resume-building opportunity could emerge in the form of a conference championship game.

Debate sparked last week over the selection committee’s ranking of the one-loss teams after using the resume-based argument at the top of the list. Oregon’s biggest wins of the season so far have come against USC and Utah, who have dropped multiple games over recent weeks and serve as shared opponents with Washington.

The Ducks wrap up their regular season with games against Arizona State and Oregon State, providing a rivalry game chance to build the resume with another Top 25 win.
