College Football Rankings: ESPN releases updated FPI Top 25 after Week 13
The latest college football rankings from ESPN are here after the network updated its FPI Top 25 following Week 13 of the season.
There was some movement in the top 10, including a new No. 1 team once again! But it’s a familiar face so don’t get too excited. We kid of course.
Let’s dive into ESPN’s new FPI rankings following Week 13 of action.
1. Texas
Texas took care of business this weekend while there was chaos around them. They stayed at the top of the FPI going into the final week.
The Longhorns beat Kentucky 31-14 and are now 10-1 on the season, with the lone loss coming to Georgia. Now, a game against Texas A&M to finish up the season could solidify their spot in the SEC Championship.
2. Ohio State (+1)
Ohio State saw the hype of Indiana rolling into Columbus. But, the Buckeyes dominated the Hoosiers 38-15 following an opening drive touchdown from Indiana, handing them their first loss.
With that, Ohio State moved up a spot in this week’s FPI. Now it’s time for “The Game” against Michigan to clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship.
3. Notre Dame (+1)
Notre Dame dispatched another service academy, beating Army 49-14 to improve to 10-1 on the season. As long as they beat USC next weekend, Notre Dame should feel very comfortable at 11-1 making the playoff.
With the latest win, their ninth in a row, Notre Dame moved up one spot in the latest FPI rankings. The finale against USC is a big one, but the Irish should be favored to end the season with authority.
4. Alabama (-2)
A brutal loss for Alabama on Saturday and the Crimson Tide dropped two spots in the FPI. Now that the Crimson Tide are 8-3 following a defeat at the hands of Oklahoma, the CFP hopes may be dashed.
24-3? What happened to Alabama? A flat performance gives them little confidence going into next week’s Iron Bowl which Auburn needs to become bowl eligible.
5. Georgia
Georgia took care of business as well, 59-21 over UMass. The Bulldogs are 9-2, didn’t move in the FPI, but clinched a spot in the SEC Championship Game.
Despite losses to Alabama and Ole Miss, which have their own problems, Georgia is sitting pretty right now. The College Football Playoff path is right in their hands.
6. Ole Miss
Ole Miss suffered its third loss of the season, but didn’t drop in the FPI. It seems like the Rebels’ playoff hopes are gone after losing to Florida, but crazier things have happened.
The 24-17 loss was stunning in the Swamp. Jaxson Dart threw two interceptions that were back breakers.

7. Oregon (+1)
Oregon was cruising along this week, especially on a bye week. The Ducks moved up a spot in the FPI while chaos ensued everywhere else.
This team is still No. 1 in the CFP rankings and will host Washington to end the season. They already clinched a spot in the Big Ten Championship, so another win will solidify their chances at the No. 1 seed.
8. Tennessee (+1)
Tennessee had one more non-conference tilt, this time against UTEP. A 56-0 win? ‘Nuff said. The Vols moved up a spot in the FPI rankings this week.
Now at 9-2, there’s an opportunity to make the College Football Playoff. If Tennessee takes care of business against Vanderbilt, that might just punch their ticket.
9. Penn State (-2)
Yikes, that was close right? Penn State just got by Minnesota 26-25 to avoid the upset and improve to 10-1 on the season.
However, the Nittany Lions fell two spots in the FPI this week ahead of a season finale against Maryland. Still, there’s an outside chance at the Big Ten Championship Game and the playoff is well within reach.
10. Miami
Miami is still at No. 10 in the FPI following a 42-14 win over Wake Forest. The Hurricanes still have to beat Syracuse next week to clinch a spot in the ACC Championship Game against SMU.
Still, Miami needed this following the loss to Georgia Tech. At 10-1, a playoff bye is well within their grasp. It’s just going to take two more wins.
