ESPN FPI Week 4 afi
On3

The latest college football rankings from ESPN are here after the network updated its FPI Top 25 following Week 4 of the season.

We had some exciting games Saturday and some significant movement in the rankings. The top 10 teams had to shift a bit in addition to a love of movement in the latter half.

Let’s dive into ESPN’s new FPI rankings following Week 4 of action.

1. Texas

Texas didn’t miss a beat against Louisiana-Monroe. It was the first career start for Arch Manning and he tossed for 258 yards and two touchdowns. However, he threw two interceptions.

No matter, Texas is still the top team in the FPI rankings from ESPN. Mississippi State is next up before a bye week and then Red River. Quinn Ewers is likely to be back by then.

2. Alabama

Alabama had a bye week following a trouncing of Wisconsin last weekend. Two weeks to prepare for Georgia? That’s a nice benefit of the schedule.

If the Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs next weekend, this might be your new top team in the FPI. For now, No. 2 will have to do.

3. Ohio State

Ohio State trailed early, but ran away from Marshall in a 49-14 win to improve to 3-0. Like the team above them, the Buckeyes didn’t move in this week’s FPI.

Quinshon Judkins is an absurd back as he ran 14 times for 173 yards and two touchdowns. TreVeyon Henderson ran for 76 and two scores as well. Heck, Will Howard ran for one out his three total touchdowns.

4. Georgia (+1)

Georgia also had the week off following a less than stellar win over Kentucky. So like we said with Alabama, the Bulldogs had two weeks to prepare for the Crimson Tide.

The FPI actually bumped them up this week despite the week off. The fans of the next team might not like that so much.

5. Tennessee (-1)

Despite a win on the road at Oklahoma, Tennessee dropped one spot in this week’s FPI. ESPN’s rating system might send Volunteers’ fans for a tizzy.

Nonetheless, Josh Hepeul went back to where he became a QB legend and got the win, improving to 4-0 this year. Tennessee looked pretty darn good early on, but coasted to a 25-15 win after leading 22-3 going into the fourth quarter.

6. Ole Miss

The least amount of points Ole Miss scored this year was 40, which was last week against Wake Forest. In the 52-13 win over Georgia Southern, Ole Miss cruised again.

The FPI kept the Rebels at No. 6 this week, ahead of a matchup with Kentucky this coming weekend. When they open up SEC play, we’ll see what this team is truly about.

7. Miami (+1)

Miami dominated another state of Florida foe, this time South Florida. In the 50-15 win, Cam Ward threw for 404 yards, three touchdowns and one pick. Big numbers again.

The Hurricanes shut out the Bulls in the second half to put a stamp on this game. With the big win, the FPI bumped Miami up one spot this week.

8. Penn State (+1)

Coming off a bye week, Penn State certainly looked refreshed. The 56-0 win over Kent State gave the Nittany Lions a small bump per ESPN’s FPI.

Drew Allar threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns. The run game was well balanced with Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen combining for 22 carries and 147 yards.

9. Notre Dame (-2)

Notre Dame controlled the game against Miami (OH) in a 28-3 win, but fell two spots in this week’s FPI. After a scoreless first quarter, the Fighting Irish woke up and took a 14-3 lead at halftime.

Riley Leonard threw for just 154 yards and a touchdown. But in the run game, he was great: 12 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Notre Dame hosts a ranked Louisville team Saturday.

10. Oregon (+1)

Oregon got the week off after dispatching rival Oregon State. The Ducks actually moved up one spot in the FPI due to Missouri’s overtime win over Vanderbilt.

Oregon will open up Big Ten play at UCLA next week. Boy that feels weird doesn’t it? Especially on the west coast?
