Oregon, Georgia lead with nation's highest percentage of blue-chip signees

The dust has settled on the Early Signing Period, and the vast majority of college football programs are done with their recruiting in the 2025 class.
A handful of prospects still remain unsigned — including one five-star — but for all intents and purposes the focus is now on the transfer portal and 2026 cycle. With that in mind, On3 is looking back at how this year’s class unfolded. Earlier this week, we broke down the five-star flips that defined the cycle in good ways some teams … and not-so-good ways for others.
Now let’s look at which schools signed the top classes by blue-chip percentage (number of four- and five-star signees divided by total number of signees):
Oregon – 95.2%
After signing strong classes in Dan Lanning’s first three cycles at Oregon, the Ducks broke through in a big way in 2025. Of their 21 signees, 20 are blue-chip prospects in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Not only did Lanning and Co. hold onto early five-star commitments Dallas Wilson and Trey McNutt after big pushes from other schools, but they also flipped five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord from Ohio State, wideout Dakorien Moore from LSU and On3 five-star quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele from Cal.
Georgia – 85.7%
The cycle didn’t end exactly how the Bulldogs planned, with Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Justus Terry choosing Texas over UGA. But it’s hard to argue with a class that boasts four five-star signees and 24 blue-chippers in total.
Five-stars Elijah Griffin, Isaiah Gibson, Talyn Taylor and Zayden Walker lead the way, but this class is loaded from top to bottom. The ‘Dawgs have 15 players signed who rank among the top 300 nationally.
LSU – 82.6%
There was no shortage of frustration directed toward Brian Kelly and his staff after the Tigers lost Five-Star Plus+ quarterback and No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood to Michigan. Texas poaching On3 five-star cornerback Kade Phillips didn’t help either.

But holistically, LSU put together one of its best classes in recent memory even with those departures. Five-star running back Harlem Berry is one of the nation’s most dynamic playmakers, and Five-Star Plus+ cornerback DJ Pickett might have the highest upside of any prospect this cycle. And we can’t forget a terrific offensive line class, led by five-star Solomon Thomas and On3 top-30 prospect Carius Curne.
Alabama – 80.9%
Alabama fans are still adjusting to the post-Nick Saban recruiting era, where the Tide aren’t pulling in classes every year with 90% blue chips. But Kalen DeBoer more than held his own in his first cycle in Tuscaloosa.
Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Keelon Russell, the No. 2 prospect in the class, is the top dog. But offensive linemen Michael Carroll and Jackson Lloyd are top-20 prospects according to On3, and the Tide also landed the nation’s No. 4 CB (Dijon Lee) No. 2 RB (Akylin Dear), and No. 5 EDGE Justin Hill, among others.
Ohio State – 76.9%
The seat in Columbus right now beneath Ryan Day is awfully warm because of on-field performance, but it’s tough to argue with how the Buckeyes have recruited. Losing Na’eem Offord at the end of the cycle to Oregon was no doubt a big blow. But OSU still has the nation’s No. 1 cornerback in Devin Sanchez, No. 3 quarterback Tavien St. Clair, No. 2 wide receiver Quincy Porter (according to On3), and No. 2 LB Riley Pettijohn.
In total the Buckeyes signed 26 high schoolers this cycle, with 20 of those earning blue-chip status.
