Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt revealed his top 25 rankings for college football now that spring practice is in the rear view mirror.

To no one’s surprise, Georgia is the No. 1 team in the country, according to Klatt. The two-time defending national champions can make history with a third straight, despite having to break in a new quarterback in 2023.

Some of the usual suspects made the top of the list, but Klatt had quite the 25 teams that stood out after spring ball.

Georgia No. 1 in Top 25, according to Joel Klatt

“Georgia is going to be the No. 1 team in the country in this post spring edition, and rightly so,” Klatt said on his podcast. “They’re loaded, back to back national champions and you can claim all you want like, ‘well, they don’t have a quarterback.’ That just makes it interesting. I still trust Kirby Smart and Georgia and everything that they’ve done in particular because of what they’ve got from a talent perspective. If you look over the cycle of recruiting … and you go back and look at the last four cycles, they are second, third, fourth and they’re first. This is a team that’s going to be loaded and they will be loaded for the foreseeable future …

“You know how I feel about Stetson Bennett. He played great and he had great statistics. He gets to New York and you know, good for him. But this is not a guy that’s going to be overly difficult to replace. I think that they will be able to replace him and they’re going to continue to be a dominant force in college football.”

Michigan and Ohio State also made the College Football Playoff last season and they follow Georgia while Alabama rounds out the top tier of the top 25. Could that be this year’s playoff? It almost was last season.

Penn State, USC, Florida State and LSU are the “new blood,” at least for playoff purposes, that could crash the party.
