ESPN College GameDay announces Johnny Manziel as Week 1 celebrity guest picker in College Station

College GameDay will begin with a bang in Week 1 as Johnny Manziel was announced as the guest picker in College Station this weekend.
The former Heisman Trophy winner is a Texas A&M legend. The Aggies host Notre Dame Saturday in a much anticipated contest to open the season.
You can see the announcement below.
This isn’t the only update regarding Manziel talking college football. He is set to join Action Network as an analyst and will give his weekly “Hail Mary Pick.”
As a college quarterback, Manziel was a legendary talent. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2012 as a redshirt freshman. At the time, he was known for his running ability and ability to create something where the play seemed to break down.
He finished that 2012 season completing 68 percent of passes for 3,706 yards and 26 touchdowns. Manziel also ran for 1,410 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.

As far as how Manziel’s alma mater will do this season, the Aggies are ranked No. 20 in the initial AP Poll while Notre Dame is No. 7 in the country.
Texas A&M lost some key production to the transfer portal this offseason, but kept its quarterback. Conner Weigman will be back under center for the Aggies after an injury cut his 2023 season short, and he’s already generating some NFL Draft buzz ahead of his third year in College Station.
On defense, Texas A&M lost some key pieces, but made some notable additions from the portal. The biggest is former Purdue EDGE Nic Scourton, who came in as the No. 10 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings, as well as former Alabama cornerback Dezz Ricks.
