Two teams remain at the College World Series and they both hail from the SEC. Florida and LSU are set to duke it out for the national championship in Omaha. The Gators arrive with a 3-0 record, while the Tigers had to pull off some special performances to stay alive.

TV broadcast information and a schedule are already in place for the championship series, with Friday being an off day. First pitch will take place on Saturday night, with the potential three games occurring on three consecutive nights.

ESPN will show the first two games and if Game 3 does become necessary, an announcement will be made in the near future. An exciting championship series should be on the way, with two of the sport’s best programs battling it out.

  • Game 1 – Saturday, June 24 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN
  • Game 2 – Sunday, June 25 at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN
  • Game 3 – Monday, June 26 at TBD on TBD

Florida, LSU set to battle in College World Series championship series

If you wanted drama, you got it on Thursday night between LSU and Wake Forest. A pure pitcher’s duel turned into a moment of magic from Tommy White from the plate. His walk-off home run sent the Tigers to the championship series — a place the program has a ton of success.

Last time LSU was one of the final two teams in Omaha, they were on the losing end… to Florida. it’s the only time they have ever lost a championship series. The remaining six have resulted in national championships. A proud tradition in Baton Rouge.

Florida will have something to say about that, though.

The Gators were the first team to advance to the final series, having defeated TCU 3-2 in the national semifinal earlier on Thursday. Florida is 9-1 throughout the NCAA Tournament dating back to the Gainesville Regional with their lone loss coming at the hand of Texas Tech 5-4.

Florida knows a thing or two about one-run games, as all three of the Gators’ CWS wins have come by one run heading into the championship series. That includes wins over Virginia, Oral Roberts and finally TCU.

They will be looking to capture their second national championship in program history. Their lone title came in 2017, but the Gators have made the final series four times — including in 2023. Florida was the national runner-up in 2005 and 2011.
