College wrestling rankings: InterMat updates all 10 weight classes after Week 10

The latest InterMat rankings are in following Week 10 of the season with the second semester upon us and it’s time for conference duals.

There’s actually a new No. 1 at a weight class that has numerous national title contenders. So of course, it’s only going to get better as the season progresses!

Let’s dive into the latest InterMat rankings, seeing No. 1 through 10 in each weight class.

125 lbs.

1. Matt Ramos, Purdue
2. Troy Spratley, Oklahoma State
3. Richie Figueroa, Arizona State
4. Eddie Ventresca, Virginia Tech
5. Cooper Flynn, Minnesota (+4)
6. Stevo Poulin, Northern Colorado (+4)
7. Caleb Smith, Nebraska (-2)
8. Jore Volk, Wyoming (-1)
9. Maximo Renteria, Oregon State (+4)
10. Brendan McCrone, Ohio State (-4)

Poulin moved up four spots in this eight class and is now 11-1 on the season. Renteria makes his top 10 debut as well, giving the Beavers another top 10 individual. Ramos is still unbeaten at the top.

133 lbs.

InterMat rankings Week 2
Ryan Crookham/Lehigh Athletics

1. Ryan Crookham, Lehigh
2. Lucas Byrd, Illinois
3. Zeth Romney, Cal Poly
4. Drake Ayala, Iowa
5. Braeden Davis, Penn State
6. Nasir Bailey, Little Rock-Arkansas
7. Kai Orine, NC State
8. Evan Frost, Iowa State
9. Nic Bouzakis, Ohio State
10. Tyler Knox, Stanford

The top 10 at 133 did not change this week. Crookham and Byrd are both undefeated this season with Romney, Ayala and Davis all sporting just one loss a piece. As it stands, could we get Byrd vs. Ayala in the Big Ten finals?

141 lbs.

1. Jesse Mendez, Ohio State (+1)
2. Andrew Alirez, Northern Colorado (-1)
3. Beau Bartlett, Penn State
4. Tagen Jamison, Oklahoma State
5. Cael Happel, Northern Iowa (+3)
6. Brock Hardy, Nebraska (-1)
7. Josh Koderhandt, Navy (-1)
8. Vance Vombaur, Minnesota (-1)
9. CJ Composto, UPenn (+1)
10. Chris Cannon, Northwestern (+1)

And there it is! Mendez is the new No. 1 at this weight class because he picked up where he left off winning a national title last year. He’s 16-0 this year and rolling. Alirez has only wrestled three times, but is 3-0. Bartlett is 9-0 and lurking to move up as well. Happel vaulted up a few spots as well and Cannon is back in the top 10.

149 lbs.

6. Lachlan McNeil, North Carolina

10. Ty Whalen, Princeton

No changes at this weight as there are six undefeated wrestlers within the top 10 of this weight class. Whalen returned to action for Princeton but did not wrestle Watters in the dual. But, the Princeton Tiger is 10-0 on the season.

157 lbs.

Iowa Athletics

1. Jacori Teemer, Iowa
2. Meyer Shapiro, Cornell
3. Tyler Kasak, Penn State (+1)
4. Ryder Downey, Northern Iowa (+1)
5. Antrell Taylor, Nebraska (-2)
6. Ethen Miller, Maryland
7. Joey Blaze, Purdue
8. Cody Chittum, Iowa State
9. Paddy Gallagher, Ohio State
10. Tommy Askey, Minnesota

Taylor fell a couple of spots in these rankings as Kasak moved up to No. 3. Downey also moved up a spot. Other than that, the top 10 guys stayed the same with some slight movement at this middle weight.

165 lbs.

2. Mikey Caliendo, Iowa
3. Peyton Hall, West Virginia
4. Julian Ramirez, Cornell
5. Terrell Barraclough, Utah Valley
6. Cameron Amine, Oklahoma State
7. Bubba Wilson, Nebraska
8. Will Miller, Appalachian State
9. Andrew Sparks, Minnesota
10. Braeden Scoles, Illinois

The top 10 remained intact this week as Mesenbrink, Caliendo and Hall are a combined 38-0. Barraclough is 16-1 on the season. That is a tough top four isn’t it? Scoles is also unbeaten, sitting at 9-0 on the season.

174 lbs.

1. Keegan O’Toole, Missouri
2. Levi Haines, Penn State
3. Dean Hamiti, Oklahoma State
4. Lorenzo Norman, Stanford (+1)
5. Patrick Kennedy, Iowa (+1)
6. Nick Incontrera, UPenn (+1)
7. Garrett Thompson, Ohio (+2)
8. Cade DeVos, South Dakota State (+2)
9. Carson Kharchla, Ohio State (+2)
10. Gaven Sax, Oklahoma (-2)

O’Toole remained No. 1 and is 11-0 on the year but head coach Brian Smith noted he’ll be out with injury until February. Haines is 8-1 with the lone loss coming to O’Toole. Kharchla is back in the top 10 and is 4-0 this year. Lennox Wolak (Virginia Tech) dropped from No. 4 to 13 and is now 6-5 on the season.

184 lbs.

2. Parker Keckeisen, Northern Iowa
3. Dustin Plott, Oklahoma State
4. Max McEnelly, Minnesota
5. Gabe Arnold, Iowa (+1)
6. Silas Allred, Nebraska (-1)
7. Bennett Berge, South Dakota State
8. Chris Foca, Cornell
9. Colton Hawks, Missouri
10. Edmond Ruth, Illinois (+1)

Arnold and Allred flipped spots this week and Jaxon Smith (Maryland) dropped to No. 13. That brings Edmond Ruth back to the top 10. Keckeisen pinned Allred to give the Husker his first loss of the season.

197 lbs.

2. Stephen Buchanan, Iowa
3. Jacob Cardenas, Michigan
4. Josh Barr, Penn State
5. Stephen Little, Little Rock-Arkansas
6. Michael Beard, Lehigh

9. Isaiah Salazar, Minnesota
10. Trey Munoz, Oregon State

No changes this week as the top four are all undefeated so far this season. Little, Beard and Surber all only have one loss. This could be anyone’s weight class despite dominance from Ferrari, Buchanan, Cardenas and Barr.

285 lbs.

No changes here either in the top 10 but now that conference duals are about to be in full swing, expect to see the big dogs more often. That includes Steveson, who remains the national title favorite in his final season.
