College wrestling rankings: InterMat updates all 10 weight classes after Week 12
Nick Kosko/On3

The latest InterMat rankings are in following Week 12 of the season with the second semester upon us and conference duals in full swing.

Some wild matches and weight changes caused some changes to the wrestling rankings. Unfortunately, injuries did the same. But there is a new No. 1 in one weight!

Let’s dive into the latest InterMat rankings, seeing No. 1 through 10 in each weight class.

125 lbs.

1. Matt Ramos, Purdue
2. Richie Figueroa, Arizona State
3. Vince Robinson, NC State
4. Troy Spratley, Oklahoma State
5. Eddie Ventresca, Virginia Tech
6. Luke Lilledahl, Penn State (+6)
7. Caleb Smith, Nebraska (-1)
8. Cooper Flynn, Minnesota (-1)
9. Stevo Poulin, Northern Colorado (-1)
10. Maximo Renteria, Oregon State (-1)

The top five here stayed the same but there were some shifts, Lilledahl is up following another good weekend and is 11-0 on the season. It pushed others down and Rutgers’ Dean Peterson dropped following a loss to Wisconsin’s Nicolar Rivera (now 19 and 18, respectively).

InterMat rankings Week 2
Ryan Crookham/Lehigh Athletics

1. Ryan Crookham, Lehigh
2. Zeth Romney, Cal Poly (+1)
3. Drake Ayala, Iowa (+1)
4. Lucas Byrd, Illinois (-2)
5. Evan Frost, Iowa State (+1)
6. Tyler Knox, Stanford (+2)
7. Braeden Davis, Penn State (-2)
8. Nasir Bailey, Arkansas-Little Rock (-1)
9. Dylan Shawver, Rutgers
10. Nic Bouzakis, Ohio State

These are the same 10 guys but just in a different order. Crookham is still on the mend but not officially ruled out for the season. Davis and Shawver are scheduled to face each other Friday in Piscataway.

141 lbs.

1. Jesse Mendez, Ohio State
2. Andrew Alirez, Northern Colorado
3. Beau Bartlett, Penn State
4. Tagen Jamison, Oklahoma State
5. Cael Happel, Northern Iowa
6. Brock Hardy, Nebraska
7. Josh Koderhandt, Navy
8. Vance Vombaur, Minnesota
9. CJ Composto, UPenn
10. Sam Latona, Virginia Tech

No changes this week but it’s pretty clear the top three in this weight class are a step above the rest. They are a combined 36-0 and any one of them can win the national title. Mendez seems to be the favorite though.

149 lbs.

1. Caleb Henson, Virginia Tech
2. Kyle Parco, Iowa (+1)
3. Ridge Lovett, Nebraska (+1)
4. Shayne Van Ness, Penn State (-2)
5. Lachlan McNeil, North Carolina
6. Chance Lamer, Cal Poly
7. Jaden Abas, Stanford
8. Ty Whalen, Princeton
9. Dylan D’Emilio, Ohio State
10. Jordan Williams, Arkansas-Little Rock

The top 10 guys are still the same, but Van Ness dropped a couple of spots after losing to Lovett. Parco is now up at No. 2 after that loss. Other than that, little movement at 149 after this past weekend.

157 lbs.

Iowa Athletics

1. Jacori Teemer, Iowa
2. Meyer Shapiro, Cornell
3. Tyler Kasak, Penn State
4. Ryder Downey, Northern Iowa
5. Antrell Taylor, Nebraska
6. Ethen Miller, Maryland
7. Joey Blaze, Purdue
8. Tommy Askey, Minnesota (+1)
9. Trevor Chumbley, Northwestern (+1)
10. Rafael Hipolito, Virginia Tech (+1)

Teemer teased a comeback within the next couple of weeks so he remained at No. 1 in these rankings. Still, he and Shapiro have only combined for seven matches total. Hipolito moved up a spot into the top 10 and is 14-1 this season.

165 lbs.

1. Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State
2. Mikey Caliendo, Iowa
3. Peyton Hall, West Virginia
4. Julian Ramirez, Cornell
5. Terrell Barraclough, Utah Valley
6. Cameron Amine, Oklahoma State
7. Bubba Wilson, Nebraska
8. Will Miller, Appalachian State
9. Paddy Gallagher, Ohio State (NR)
10. Beau Mantanona, Michigan (+11)

The top eight stayed the same this week but Gallagher is now in these rankings. He officially moved up to 165, switching with Sammy Sasso. He’s plugged into No. 9 and Mantanona vaulted up with his impressive season. He’s 7-1 and could be a Michigan star in the making.

174 lbs.

1. Keegan O’Toole, Missouri
2. Levi Haines, Penn State
3. Dean Hamiti, Oklahoma State
4. Lorenzo Norman, Stanford
5. Patrick Kennedy, Iowa
6. Carson Kharchla, Ohio State
7. Nick Incontrera, UPenn
8. Gaven Sax, Oklahoma
9. Alex Cramer, Central Michigan
10. Garrett Thompson, Ohio

No changes this week as we wait for O’Toole to return to the mat from injury. But he has the win over Haines, keeping him in the top spot. Hamiti has been on a tear this year, sporting a 14-0 record to this point.

184 lbs.

1. Carter Starocci, Penn State
2. Parker Keckeisen, Northern Iowa
3. Dustin Plott, Oklahoma State
4. Max McEnelly, Minnesota
5. Gabe Arnold, Iowa
6. Bennett Berge, South Dakota State
7. Silas Allred, Nebraska
8. Chris Foca, Cornell
9. Colton Hawks, Missouri
10. Edmond Ruth, Illinois

184 didn’t see any changes either but there are a few undefeated wrestlers at or near the top. Starocci, Keckeisen, McEnelly and Arnold are all unbeaten to this point. But they have to lose eventually right?

197 lbs.

1. Stephen Buchanan, Iowa (+1)
2. Jacob Cardenas, Michigan (+1)
3. AJ Ferrari, CSU Bakersfield (-2)
4. Josh Barr, Penn State
5. Stephen Little, Arkansas-Little Rock
6. Michael Beard, Lehigh
7. Luke Surber, Oklahoma State
8. Andy Smith, Virginia Tech
9. Isaiah Salazar, Minnesota
10. Trey Munoz, Oregon State

A new No. 1! It’s hard to put into words the levels Buchanan has jumped this season. He finished 3rd at 197 for Oklahoma last year but looks even better this year. He’s 12-0 while Cardenas are 11-0 and 10-0, respectively. Let’s not forget Barr, who’s 11-0 as a redshirt freshman. This weight class is loaded right now.

285 lbs.

1. Gable Steveson, Minnesota
2. Greg Kerkvliet, Penn State
3. Wyatt Hendrickson, Oklahoma State
4. Isaac Trumble, NC State
5. Cohlton Schultz, Arizona State
6. Nick Feldman, Ohio State (+1)
7. Yaraslau Slavikouski, Rutgers (+1)
8. Owen Trephan, Lehigh (+1)
9. Josh Heindselman, Michigan (+1)
10. Luke Luffman, Illinois (+1)

Campbell’s Taye Ghadiali was ruled out for the season with an injury, so everyone else moves up. Luffman is back in the top 10 with a 10-2 record and will take on Slavikouski Sunday in New Jersey.
