There were some shakeups in the rankings this week and guess what? We have a new No. 1 in likely the best rivalry in the sport right now!

Let’s dive into the latest InterMat rankings, looking at No. 1 through 10 in each weight class.

125 lbs.

1. Matt Ramos, Purdue
2. Richie Figueroa, Arizona State
3. Vince Robinson, NC State
4. Troy Spratley, Oklahoma State
5. Eddie Ventresca, Virginia Tech
6. Stevo Poulin, Northern Colorado
7. Caleb Smith, Nebraska (+1)
8. Dean Peterson, Rutgers (+1)
9. Luke Lilledahl, Penn State (-2)
10. Sheldon Seymour, Lehigh

Lilledahl lost to Ohio State’s Brendan McCrone by pin in their dual so he drops a couple of spots. With that, Peterson and Smith move up and Peterson actually has a head to head win over the Penn State freshman.

InterMat rankings Week 2
Ryan Crookham/Lehigh Athletics

1. Ryan Crookham, Lehigh
2. Drake Ayala, Iowa (+1)
3. Lucas Byrd, Illinois (+1)
4. Evan Frost, Iowa State (+1)
5. Braxton Brown, Maryland (+1)
6. Tyler Knox, Stanford (+1)
7. Braeden Davis, Penn State (+1)
8. Nasir Bailey, Arkansas-Little Rock (+1)
9. Zeth Romney, Cal Poly (-7)
10. Dylan Shawver, Rutgers

Romney’s loss pushes him down to the backend of the top 10 as everyone else moves up a spot. Shawver stayed put at No. 10 and is now 16-6. Crookham hasn’t returned by all indications are that he’s going to make an attempt for EIWAs.

141 lbs.

1. Beau Bartlett, Penn State (+2)
2. Jesse Mendez, Ohio State (-1)
3. Andrew Alirez, Northern Colorado (-1)
4. Cael Happel, Northern Iowa
5. Tagen Jamison, Oklahoma State
6. Brock Hardy, Nebraska
7. Josh Koderhandt, Navy
8. Vance Vombaur, Minnesota
9. CJ Composto, UPenn
10. Sam Latona, Virginia Tech

We have a new No. 1 wrestler! Bartlett got his payback on Mendez with a win in their dual this past weekend. The two are now 2-2 against each other the last two seasons. That’s the only shift this week.

149 lbs.

1. Caleb Henson, Virginia Tech
2. Shayne Van Ness, Penn State
3. Kyle Parco, Iowa
4. Ridge Lovett, Nebraska
5. Lachlan McNeil, North Carolina
6. Dylan D’Emilio, Ohio State (+1)
7. Paniro Johnson, Iowa State (-1)
8. Ethan Stiles, Oregon State
9. Chance Lamer, Cal Poly
10. Colin Realbuto, Northern Iowa (+5)

D’Emilio and Johnson flip spots this week and Realbuto is in the top 10 with a banner weekend. He knocked off Johnson in UNI’s win over Iowa State and is now 18-4 on the season. What a year for the Panthers.

157 lbs.

1. Tyler Kasak, Penn State
2. Meyer Shapiro, Cornell
3. Jacori Teemer, Iowa
4. Antrell Taylor, Nebraska
5. Ethen Miller, Maryland (+1)
6. Ryder Downey, Northern Iowa (-1)
7. Joey Blaze, Purdue
8. Tommy Askey, Minnesota
9. Trevor Chumbley, Northwestern
10. Brandon Cannon, Ohio State (NR)

Miller and Downey flipped spots this week, otherwise there was little movement. Cannon is in at 157 pounds for Ohio State, signaling this could be the end of Sammy Sasso, despite a valiant comeback attempt. He’d have to win this spot or beat teammate Paddy Gallagher at 165.

165 lbs.

1. Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State
2. Mikey Caliendo, Iowa
3. Terrell Barraclough, Utah Valley
4. Peyton Hall, West Virginia
5. Julian Ramirez, Cornell
6. Cameron Amine, Oklahoma State
7. Will Miller, Appalachian State
8. Christopher Minto, Nebraska
9. Paddy Gallagher, Ohio State
10. Beau Mantanona, Michigan

No changes this week at 165 as Mesenbrink and Caliendo are clearly the top two dogs. Not to project too much into the future, but we’d love to see an NCAA semifinal between Barraclough and Caliendo!

174 lbs.

1. Keegan O’Toole, Missouri
2. Levi Haines, Penn State
3. Dean Hamiti, Oklahoma State
4. Lorenzo Norman, Stanford
5. Carson Kharchla, Ohio State
6. Garrett Thompson, Ohio
7. Alex Cramer, Central Michigan
8. Cade DeVos, South Dakota State
9. Simon Ruiz, Cornell
10. Lenny Pinto, Nebraska

O’Toole is slated to come back at the end of the month, announcing his intentions to wrestle in Missouri’s final home dual. That’s good to see! Otherwise, there were no changes in this week’s top 10 for 174.

184 lbs.

Dan Rainville / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

1. Carter Starocci, Penn State
2. Parker Keckeisen, Northern Iowa
3. Dustin Plott, Oklahoma State
4. Max McEnelly, Minnesota
5. Bennett Berge, South Dakota State
6. Chris Foca, Cornell
7. Silas Allred, Nebraska
8. Gabe Arnold, Iowa
9. Colton Hawks, Missouri
10. Evan Bockman, Iowa State

This is our third straight weight where we had no changes in the top 10. Starocci and Keckeisen are on a collision course for the NCAA finals at this point. It’ll be interesting to see where the undefeated McEnelly ends up being seeded at NCAAs.

197 lbs.

1. Stephen Buchanan, Iowa
2. Josh Barr, Penn State (+1)
3. Jacob Cardenas, Michigan (+1)
4. AJ Ferrari, CSU Bakersfield (-2)
5. Michael Beard, Lehigh
6. Luke Surber, Oklahoma State
7. Stephen Little, Arkansas-Little Rock
8. Isaiah Salazar, Minnesota
9. Trey Munoz, Oregon State
10. Mac Sout, Pittsburgh

Ferrari didn’t wrestle this past weekend so InterMat shifted Barr and Cardenas up a spot each. There were no other changes. Ferrari is undefeated this season, his first season since the 2021-22 campaign. However, the quality of opponents doesn’t compare to the top three at this stage.

285 lbs.

1. Gable Steveson, Minnesota
2. Greg Kerkvliet, Penn State
3. Wyatt Hendrickson, Oklahoma State
4. Isaac Trumble, NC State
5. Cohlton Schultz, Arizona State
6. Owen Trephan, Lehigh
7. Yaraslau Slavikouski, Rutgers
8. Josh Heindselman, Michigan
9. Nick Feldman, Ohio State
10. Luke Luffman, Illinois

No changes at heavyweight but we can firmly say Steveson looks better than ever at this point. The impending Big Ten final with Kerkvliet will be must-see TV. It’s also fair to wonder if Hendrickson, who also looks better than ever, will even sniff the NCAA finals by having to get through one of those two in the NCAA semifinals.
