College wrestling rankings: InterMat updates all 10 weight classes after Week 2
With the 2024-25 NCAA Wrestling season underway, InterMat released their updated individual rankings following Week 2 of the season.
There were more dual meets, some Journeymen events, and of course, some upsets! As usual, InterMat ranks No. 1 through 33 in all 10 weight classes.
We’ll dive into the top 10 at each weight, while listing the full rankings below.
125 lbs.
1. Richie Figueroa, Arizona State
2. Jore Volk, Wyoming
3. Caleb Smith, Nebraska
4. Matt Ramos, Purdue
5. Tanner Jordan, South Dakota State
6. Troy Spratley, Oklahoma State
7. Stevo Poulin, Northern Colorado (+1)
8. Nico Provo, Stanford (+2)
9. Dean Peterson, Rutgers (+2)
10. Greg Diakomihalis, Cornell (+2)
The top six stayed the same this week but we saw some movement near the latter half of the top 10. Poulin moved up a spot, Provo moved up without wrestling so far this year and Peterson and Diakomihalis cracked the top 10 this week.
133 lbs.
1. Ryan Crookham, Lehigh
2. Nasir Bailey, Little Rock-Arkansas
3. Lucas Byrd, Illinois
4. Dylan Ragusin, Michigan
5. Evan Frost, Iowa State
6. Dylan Shawver, Rutgers
7. Braeden Davis, Penn State (+2)
8. Tyler Wells, Minnesota (+2)
9. Drake Ayala, Iowa (-2)
10. Connor McGonagle, Virginia Tech (-2)
Just like 125, 133 saw no changes in the top six of the rankings this week. But there was some wrestling from others! Davis is up two spots despite not making his new weight debut, Wells went 2-0 and Ayala suffered a loss, dropping him two spots.
141 lbs.
1. Andrew Alirez, Northern Colorado
2. Jesse Mendez, Ohio State
3. Beau Bartlett, Penn State
4. Brock Hardy, Nebraska
5. Vance Vombaur, Minnesota
6. Cael Happel, Northern Iowa (+1)
7. Kai Orine, NC State (-1)
8. Sergio Lemley, Michigan
9. Josh Koderhandt, Navy
10. Chris Cannon, Northwestern
The top five are entrenched at 141 right now while Orine actually dropped one spot despite going 5-1 through the first two weeks. Otherwise, this is the same top 10.
149 lbs.
1. Caleb Henson, Virginia Tech
2. Shayne Van Ness, Penn State
3. Ty Watters, West Virginia
4. Kyle Parco, Iowa
5. Ridge Lovett, Nebraska
6. Lachlan McNeil, North Carolina
7. Anthony Echemendia, Iowa State

9. Ty Whalen, Princeton
10. Kannon Webster, Illinois
No changes this week across a tough weight class. Watters went 5-0 through the first two weeks, so he’s off to a blazing start. As is Whalen, arguably Princeton’s top wrestler.
157 lbs.

3. Peyten Kellar, Ohio
4. Antrell Taylor, Nebraska
5. Tyler Kasak, Penn State
6. Ryder Downey, Northern Iowa (+1)
7. Tommy Askey, Minnesota (+1)

9. Ed Scott, NC State (-3)
10. Paddy Gallagher, Ohio State
The top 10 stayed the same in this weight class but there was some movement. Askey went 3-0 and moved up a spot. But how about Kellar? He is 6-0 already on the young season.
165 lbs.

2. Mikey Caliendo, Iowa
3. Peyton Hall, West Virginia
4. Julian Ramirez, Cornell
5. Cameron Amine, Oklahoma State
6. Terrell Barraclough, Utah Valley
7. Hunter Garvin, Stanford
8. Will Miller, Appalachian State (+6)
9. MJ Gaitan, Iowa State (+1)
10. Andrew Sparks, Minnesota (+1)
The top seven didn’t shift but did you see Caliendo and Garvin? What a match those two had in their dual. Caliendo won a shootout, coming back from a 9-2 deficit. Miller went 3-0 and jumped into the top 10 and Sparks went 3-1 to move up a spot.

Still waiting on Haines and DeVos to make their debuts this season. O’Toole is already 5-0 in his first year at a new weight. Norman made waves, upsetting Iowa’s Nelson brands and is now 4-0, bumping up eight spots.

Not much movement at this weight this week, but Ruth is 4-2, falling to Rutgers’ Brian Soldano via pin at the Journeymen Classic in PA this weekend. Foca is back in the top 10, still waiting on his debut this season.
197 lbs.

The top 10 remained exactly the same as last week. Ferrari is 2-0 in his return to college wrestling, as is Buchanan. The latter is already a title contender for the Hawkeyes. Beard is 8-0 through two weeks and looks like a high podium contender.

Some slight movement this week, but Trumble got a nice bump, going 3-1 on the young season. Luffman is 5-1 and into the top 10 this week. He headlines quite a lineup for Illinois this season.
