College wrestling rankings: InterMat updates all 10 weight classes after Week 3
With the 2024-25 NCAA Wrestling season underway, InterMat released their updated individual rankings following Week 3 of the season.
There were more dual meets, some Journeymen events, and of course, some upsets! As usual, InterMat ranks No. 1 through 33 in all 10 weight classes.
We’ll dive into the top 10 at each weight, while listing the full rankings below.
125 lbs.
1. Richie Figueroa, Arizona State
2. Jore Volk, Wyoming
3. Caleb Smith, Nebraska
4. Matt Ramos, Purdue
5. Tanner Jordan, South Dakota State
6. Troy Spratley, Oklahoma State
7. Stevo Poulin, Northern Colorado (+1)
8. Nico Provo, Stanford (+2)
9. Greg Diakomihalis, Cornell (+1)
10. Brendan McCrone, Ohio State (+1)
The top eight stayed the same this week but there was some movement as Rutgers’ Dean Peterson dropped out of the top 10 following a rough weekend. McCrone moved up into the top 10 and is 6-0 on the season.
133 lbs.
1. Ryan Crookham, Lehigh
2. Lucas Byrd, Illinois (+1)
3. Nasir Bailey, Little Rock-Arkansas (-1)
4. Dylan Ragusin, Michigan
5. Evan Frost, Iowa State
6. Dylan Shawver, Rutgers
7. Braeden Davis, Penn State
8. Tyler Wells, Minnesota
9. Drake Ayala, Iowa
10. Connor McGonagle, Virginia Tech
Byrd and Bailey flipped spots as InterMat weighed the All-Star wrestling classic this past weekend. The Illini star is back with a vengeance. Otherwise, the top 10 stayed the same after Week 3.
141 lbs.
1. Andrew Alirez, Northern Colorado
2. Jesse Mendez, Ohio State
3. Beau Bartlett, Penn State
4. Brock Hardy, Nebraska
5. Vance Vombaur, Minnesota
6. Cael Happel, Northern Iowa
7. Kai Orine, NC State
8. Sergio Lemley, Michigan
9. Josh Koderhandt, Navy
10. Chris Cannon, Northwestern
No changes this week at 141 but this weight class is loaded with talent. Alirez is at the top but Mendez beat Barlett again and wants to defend his title in March. Cannon returned to the mat for the first time in a year and got his first win of the season.
149 lbs.
1. Caleb Henson, Virginia Tech
2. Shayne Van Ness, Penn State
3. Ty Watters, West Virginia
4. Kyle Parco, Iowa
5. Ridge Lovett, Nebraska
6. Lachlan McNeil, North Carolina
7. Anthony Echemendia, Iowa State
8. Chance Lamer, Cal Poly
9. Ty Whalen, Princeton
10. Kannon Webster, Illinois
No changes at 149 this week either as we’re still waiting for Van Ness to have an official match. Although, he dominated Watters at the All-Star Classic and he looks like a legit national title contender coming off an injury last year.
157 lbs.
1. Jacori Teemer, Iowa
2. Meyer Shapiro, Cornell
3. Antrell Taylor, Nebraska (+1)
4. Tyler Kasak, Penn State (+1)
5. Peyten Kellar, Ohio (-2)
6. Ryder Downey, Northern Iowa
7. Tommy Askey, Minnesota
8. Ed Scott, NC State (+1)
9. Paddy Gallagher, Ohio State (+1)
10. Paniro Johnson, Iowa State (+1)
Kellar fell a few spots losing to Kasak in the All-Star Classic but is undefeated in official matches. There are rumors Kasak won’t man this spot after losing a wrestle off to Alex Facundo. Until that’s official, Kasak is firmly in the national title chase. Teague Travis (Oklahoma State) fell down to No. 16 after an upset loss this weekend.
165 lbs.
1. Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State
2. Mikey Caliendo, Iowa
3. Peyton Hall, West Virginia
4. Julian Ramirez, Cornell
5. Terrell Barraclough, Utah Valley (+1)
6. Cameron Amine, Oklahoma State (-1)
7. Hunter Garvin, Stanford
8. Will Miller, Appalachian State
9. MJ Gaitan, Iowa State
10. Andrew Sparks, Minnesota
Barraclough is 7-0 since transferring from Penn State and beat Amine head to head this past weekend so he’s now No. 5. The top 10 guys are the same though. There’s a new addition that should be noted: Sammy Sasso (Ohio State) is up two weights and debuts at No. 11 with a 2-0 start. Following a carjacking and being shot, missing the entirety of last season, Sasso’s return is one of the best stories in college wrestling.

The top six remained the same this week but there was some movement down below as Salazar and Glazier moved up with Munoz dropping after an upset loss. Beard is an impressive 8-0 right now.
285 lbs.
1. Gable Steveson, Minnesota (NR)
2. Greg Kerkvliet, Penn State (-1)

7. Taye Ghadiali, Campbell (+2)
8. Nick Feldman, Ohio State (-5)
9. Yaraslau Slavikouski, Rutgers (-5)
10. Luke Luffman, Illinois (-2)
Here we go. Steveson is back and ready to debut this weekend. He’s right in at No. 1 at the favorite to win his third NCAA title. Everyone else slid down and Trumble made waves beating Slavikouski 2-0 on Sunday. Ghadiali beat Feldman in the All-Star Classic which stood out.
