Following a 42-6 Colorado loss to Oregon last season, the Buffaloes reportedly flagged some potential breaches of the team’s online service that stores practice footage and other data, according to a report from Front Office Sports.

FOS reports, citing multiple sources with firsthand knowledge, that the Buffaloes reached out to the Pac-12 about the alleged breach.

However, when the Pac-12 followed up and contacted the Colorado athletic department, Colorado “chose not to move forward,” a source said.

Moreover, Catapult, the service used by Colorado for team video replay, conducted its own review of the allegations of improper access and found that the system’s security was not compromised.

Colorado did not respond to a request for comment by FOS, while Oregon issued a statement that it was unaware of anything that might lend credibility to the claims.

ESPN’s Heather Dinich predicts tough year

Colorado took a significant step forward under new coach Deion Sanders in 2023, improving from one win to four wins. But it was a difficult finish to the year, with the team losing eight of its last nine.

ESPN analyst Heather Dinich thinks the Buffaloes could be in for a similarly tough season in 2024.

“When I look at their schedule, ESPN analytics has them as a heavy favorite to win their season opener,” Dinich said. “I also think that they can get wins against Cincinnati, Baylor, I mean Colorado State is one that could be tricky but I look at this lineup and I see a lot of Ls on there, to be honest.

“Remember, they have a whole new roster again. The most transfers in the FBS with 44. This is a lot of turnover. So, I think they could be in trouble and we’re talking again about what Deion says off the field and not as much as what he does on it, in terms of the win column.”

Colorado will open its season against NDSU on Thursday.
