Colorado High School Football Rankings: Top 25 teams – Oct. 22
Playoff time is nearly here in Colorado high school football, and the state rankings have been updated after another weekend of results.
While Cherry Creek remains at No. 1 — as it has all season — there has been significant movement in the top five after a huge showdown between Ralston Valley and Columbine.
With just two weeks to go in the regular season, here are the top 25 teams in the state, according to the On3 Massey Ratings.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Cherry Creek
Previous Rank: No. 1
Creek continues to roll against in-state opponents after beating No. 22 Eaglecrest 44-0 on Friday night. The Bruins have only given up a total of 28 points in five games against Colorado teams, and will look to continue their dominant run against winless Smoky Hill on Thursday.
2. Mountain Vista
Previous Rank: No. 2
The Eagles are one of the state’s most dominant teams on both sides of the ball, evidenced again by their 49-6 blowout win at Fruita Monument. They’ll now face top-25 foes Rock Canyon and Castle View before the playoffs begin next month.
3. Valor Christian
Previous Rank: No. 4 (+1)
Valor Christian has responded to its early October loss to Mountain Vista with a vengeance, outscoring its past two opponents by a combined score of 81-6. They’ll host winless Fruita Monument this week before No. 25 Rock Canyon comes to town on November 1.
4. Ralston Valley
Previous Rank: No. 6 (+2)
The Mustangs won one of the biggest games in Colorado this year over the weekend, upsetting then-No. 3 Columbine 35-34 to move to 7-1. RV has won with both its offense and defense, and will look to take that momentum into this week’s game against a tough Denver East squad.
5. Columbine
Previous Rank: No. 3 (-2)
Columbine dropped its first game of the year to Ralston Valley, but will have a chance to rebound quickly this week against 2-6 Denver South before facing No. 16 Chatfield in the regular season finale.
6. Legend
Previous Rank: No. 5 (-1)
The Titans continue to take care of business, routing Fountain Fort-Carson out of Colorado Springs 49-0 on Friday night. They’ll host Douglas County before a huge road matchup at No. 8 Regis Jesuit on November 1.
7. Pine Creek
Previous Rank: No. 7
Pine Creek had no trouble with Chaparral in a 41-8 blowout win on Friday, setting up a massive showdown against Regis Jesuit this weekend. The Eagles are touchdown favorites to win, per the On3 Massey Ratings.

9. Fairview
Previous Rank: No. 9
The Knights remain unblemished after taking out Brighton 35-7 on Friday night. Maybe their biggest test of the regular season will come this week as No. 21 Fossil Ridge makes its way down to Boulder.
10. Arapahoe
Previous Rank: No. 10
The Warriors dominated winless Smoky Hill 55-10 over the weekend, but will now face two top-30 teams to close the season — Cherokee Trail and Eaglecrest.
