Colorado transfer OT Isaiah Jatta commits to BYU
Former Colorado offensive tackle Isaiah Jatta has committed to BYU, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. He only spent one season with the Buffaloes. He played 11 games for the team, making one start on the road against UCLA.
Before playing at Colorado, Jatta spent two seasons at Snow College under head coach Zac Erekson after redshirting the 2020 season. For his efforts in the 2022 campaign, Jatta was named a NJCAA Football First Team All-American.
Isaiah Jatta was the No. 24 overall recruit in the 2023 JUCO cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Further, On3 listed Jatta as the No. 7 offensive tackle from JUCO.
Jatta is the seventh player BYU has added via the transfer portal during or since this past season. The Cougars have also lost 12 players to the portal, ultimately landing at the No. 51 spot in On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
Deion Sanders not worried about transfer portal losses
Jatta was one part of a mass exodus from Colorado this offseason. While many fans have panicked about Colorado’s substantial losses in the portal, head coach Deion Sanders has remained calm. In April, the NFL Hall-of-Famer addressed the program’s substantial transfer departures.

“I wish you guys do a little more homework when you start talking about the portal and understand what we losing, What are we losing? I got time today,” Sanders said. “What are we losing? Potential? Where? You haven’t been watching practice have you? We good. We’re good.
“I trust the recruiting team,” Sanders said. “I trust that coaches and please have some faith in me. We aight. We alright. What happens with the portal man, and you guys need to know, a lot of people are fighting for backups. When a guy is a starter and he transfers you got to really think about that. I mean, is he really that? I don’t know how many starters have really transferred around the country.”
Colorado has added 39 players via the portal during or since the 2023 campaign. In contrast, the program has lost 44 players. Nonetheless, Sanders and Co. sit at No. 3 in On3’s Transfer Portal team Rankings.
