Colorado trolls 'lil bro' Colorado State in social media post after game
Colorado defeated Colorado State 28-9 on Saturday as the Buffs cruised to victory over their in-state rival in Week 4.
Following last season’s overtime thriller, the Rams came into the game confident they’d be able to best Coach Prime and company. After a scoreless first quarter for Colorado saw them trail 3-0 early, it was all Buffs for the rest of the game. Colorado got one last laugh in on their “lil bro” after the score went final.
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders completed 36 of 49 passes for 310 yards and four touchdowns against the Rams, seeing star wideout Travis Hunter catch 13 of those for go with 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hunter also logged five tackles and an interception on the defensive side of the football.
Wideout LaJohntay Wester scored on the other two of Sanders’ touchdown passes, catching eight balls for 80 yards during the contest.

The performance comes after Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and wide recever Tory Horton made comments directed toward the Buffs football team during game week. Horton said the Rams were “coming for revenge” while Fowler-Nicolosi wanted fans to “see how far Instagram followers gets them” on the football field.
Horton starred in the 2023 matchup, catching 16 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown last season. Colorado’s secondary held him to two catches on Saturday. For Fowler-Nicolosi, he was 22 of 39 passing under center for 209 yards and a pair of interceptions.
During the interview, Horton spoke on how hungry Colorado State was to play the Buffs. He noted that this was a matchup that’s been on their minds since the team came back together in the spring. Horton is a fifth-year senior, which means the back-to-back 1,000-yard receiver won’t have another opportunity to play Colorado in his career. Fowler-Nicolosi is a redshirt sophomore, meaning he could get another crack at his team’s rival if he returns in 2025.
Colorado is now 2-0 against its in-state rival under head coach Deion Sanders, and spoke on Fowler-Nicolosi and Horton’s comments during his postgame press conference after the win.
“When you allow kids to sit in an interview and talk against us and you just got beat by 50-some in Week 1 (52-0 vs. Texas), come on dog. Somebody help me here,” Sanders said. “Am I missing something? I don’t see where that’s done in sports. That has to be allowed. Ain’t nobody crazy enough to sit up there and say stuff like that. Who does that?”
Colorado will move on from its “lil bro,” as they shift focus to the start of its Big 12 schedule beginning at home against Baylor on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET and will air live on FOX.
