For anyone expecting Saint Louis (Mo.) St. Louis University five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo to make a college decision, they’ll be waiting awhile.

InsideTexas’ recruiting inside Justin Wells recently traveled to Missouri and talked with Wingo and his father. One thing he took away from that visit is that while Wingo is in no hurry to make a decision, once he does he commit, that school is where he’s staying.

“He insisted until December he’d like to wait until December to make that call,” Wells recently noted during Big 12 Media Days. “In an ideal world for him, he’d announce during a ceremony, get in a car, get in a plane and fly to his next school that same day because he’s going to enroll early. He’s going to be the first player in East St. Louis University High student in 150 years to graduate early.

“With his timeline he wants to wait, but he also told me that he could wake up one day, know where he wants to go, make the decision and shut it down. His dad echoed that and said that when he makes his decision, they’ll be done and there will be no flip-flopping.”

The 6-foot-1.5, 210-pound pass-catcher is the No. 24 overall prospect and No. 7 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Missouri.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) currently has Texas as the favorite to land a commitment from Wingo at 34.8%. Notre Dame sits in a close second at 28.3% and Georgia follows close behind at 23.8%.

In June Wingo took four official visits. Georgia hosted him on June 2, Michigan on June 9, Texas on June 16 and Missouri on June 23.

Volquest’s Brent Hubbs reported on July 13 that that Wingo will be back in Knoxville at the end of the month. He’s also taking his official to Tennessee for their home game against Georgia.

Even with that visit still on the cards, it may take something special to pull ahead of Texas following what many consider to be a standout official in mid-June.

“I just spoke to Coach Sark yesterday,” Wingo told On3 following the official to Texas in June. “He has that offensive mind. Lowkey, he’s like an offensive genius. I like how he gets his receivers the ball. I was watching Xavier Worthy and you know the coach trusts you when you’re running whip-outs and whip-in routes. The coach has to trust you to make that play, (to) go catch that fade on him because you’re solo’d up. Love how he puts his trust in his players. That’s a big thing.”
