Conner Weigman injury update: Mike Elko explains Week 4 absence
For the second week in a row, the Texas A&M Aggies were without starting quarterback Conner Weigman as he recovers from a shoulder injury. However, in Week 4, he wasn’t even able to suit up for the game against Bowling Green as he had done the week prior against Florida.
Following the game, head coach Mike Elko shared that as Texas A&M manages the injury, they felt it was best for Conner Weigman not to suit up for the game.
“We just didn’t want to give him the shot again,” Mike Elko said. “He’s still just dealing with the pain of that shoulder injury. So, it’s just trying to get him to where he can throw comfortably. We didn’t feel like it was the right thing to try to go back through the same process again. So, we decided to just go with Jaylen [Henderson] as number two tonight.”
Weigman initially suffered the injury against Notre Dame in Week 1 but was able to play in the Week 2 win. He later suited up for the game against Florida. So, there is concern about his lessening involvement. Elko would later describe the injury as an AC joint sprain. Luckily, Elko also shared that imaging was clean.
“The imaging did turn out good,” Elko previously said. “So, we didn’t find any more problems than we were dealing with. It’s an AC sprain. Everything else is very much intact.”
In place of Conner Weigman, Texas A&M started Marcel Reed for the second week in a row. Once again, he played well in relief, throwing for 173 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 91 yards on the game.

Despite that, the game was closer than Texas A&M would have liked, with the Aggies only able to beat the Falcons by a final score of 26-20.

Mike Elko reveals Texas A&M quarterback likely to be ‘game-time decision for the rest of the season’
Prior to the Bowling Green game, Mike Elko shared that the Texas A&M quarterback position will likely be a game-time decision for the remainder of the season.
“Yeah, I think so. And I think people who get to know me know that it’s probably going to be a game-time decision for the rest of the season,” Elko said. “That’s just how we handle things. We have a lot of real honest conversations internally, but those stay internal.”
