Conner Weigman injury update: Mike Elko reveals status of Texas A&M QB entering Week 4
After missing last weekend’s conference opener in The Swamp, Conner Weigman has an updated status going into this week from Mike Elko.
Elko provided the latest on the Aggies’ quarterback during his press conference on Monday. He said that he’s on a daily or weekly timetable depending on where they think he’s at over the next few days.
“Yeah, so, Conner is going to be listed as day-to-day and week-to-week – however you want to word that, you know,” said Elko. “We’ll kind of get him through and see where he’s at with everything.”
This comes after Weigman missed the 33-20 victory for Texas A&M over Florida on Saturday. He has dealing with a sprain of a joint in his shoulder that he suffered in the opener against Notre Dame. He managed it in the next game against McNeese State but was eventually unable to go this weekend.
Through his pair of appearances, Weigman has gone 23-44 (52.3%) for 225 yards with two touchdowns and interceptions apiece. He has also rushed for 65 yards.

Marcel Reed started in Weigman’s place against the Gators. In the 13-point win in Gainesville, Reed went 11-17 (64.7%) for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed for 83 yards and an additional score. Those earned Reed the honor of being an SEC Freshman of the Week alongside Texas’ Arch Manning.
With Reed playing that well, the Aggies could consider a different answer to any questions at quarterback, especially if Weigman remains out. Still, for now, Elko will continue to evaluate the entire position group with the one who will help them the most being who gets the starts moving forward.
“We’ll continue to manage the quarterback room very similar to how we have and play the guy on Saturday that we think gives us the best chance to win,” Elko said.
