Conner Weigman injury update: Mike Elko reveals Texas A&M QB's status for Arkansas game
The Texas A&M Aggies have been without their starting quarterback Conner Weigman for the last two games. Now, the Aggies are hoping to get him back before taking on rival Arkansas this weekend.
However, as Mike Elko explained, Conner Weigman is still going to be a game-time decision as there are still questions about whether or not he is going to be healthy enough to play this season.
“Yeah, he’ll be a game-time decision,” Mike Elko said.
Conner Weigman was initially injured against Notre Dame in Week 1. He played against McNeese State the next week but hasn’t been able to play since that time. Mike Elko has since explained that it’s an AC joint injury and that they were lucky that the imaging done on his shoulder came back clean. However, he has also previously noted that the quarterback position will likely be a game-time decision for the rest of the season.

After suiting up against Florida, Conner Weigman didn’t even dress for the Aggies’ game against Bowling Green in Week 4. That was a decision that Mike Elko explained came down to pain management and not wanting to have him go through the preparatory process ahead of that game.
“We just didn’t want to give him the shot again,” Elko said. “He’s still just dealing with the pain of that shoulder injury. So, it’s just trying to get him to where he can throw comfortably. We didn’t feel like it was the right thing to try to go back through the same process again. So, we decided to just go with Jaylen [Henderson] as number two tonight.”

Unfortunately for Conner Weigman, injuries have become an issue in his career at Texas A&M. He only played in four games last season before taking a redshirt thanks to injuries he suffered during the season. Now, he’s only been able to get in two out of four games this season.
In place of Conner Weigman, Mike Elko has been starting Marcel Reed at quarterback. An exciting player, he has thrown for 422 yards this season and four touchdowns. On top of that, he’s rushed for 217 yards and a touchdown. That makes him second on the team in rushing yards this season and first in passing yards.
Texas A&M is set to play rival Arkansas this week. The Aggies have won back-to-back games in that series and would like to continue to build momentum this season with a win.
