Conner Weigman injury update: Texas A&M QB's status updated ahead of Week 6 clash with Missouri
After missing Week 5’s clash with the Arkansas Razorbacks, Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman has a chance to return this weekend against the Missouri Tigers, according to Aggies coach Mike Elko.
Led by Marcel Reed, Texas A&M are 4-1 on the season after their win inside AT&T Stadium, but Elko will seemingly turn the keys back over to Weigman if he’s healthy. It’s an interesting decision, and one he won’t have to make until the final injury report is revealed.
“Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko says QB Conner Weigman (shoulder) will be a game-time decision again this Saturday vs. Missouri,” Carter Karels of GigEm247 posted on X.
Coming into the season, Weigman was picked by many to be one of the best players in the SEC, especially at the quarterback position. However, his Week 1 performance against Notre Dame left much to be desired, although he did follow it up with some nice plays when he hasn’t been injured over the last few weeks.
Regardless, Texas A&M will be hoping to stay hot in what’s looking like a huge game within the SEC. Both Missouri and Texas A&M are pining for wins, it’ll be fascinating to see which team is able to rise above and continue their hot streak in Week 6.

Moreover, Missouri is off to a 4-0 start for the second consecutive season for the first time since joining the SEC. The Tigers are No. 11 in the country, and, according to ESPN, they returned 73% of their production from last year, during which they won 11 games while recording their first-ever New Year’s Six bowl victory.

Head coach Eli Drinkwitz, the 2023 SEC Coach of the Year, joined “The Paul Finebaum Show” during the team’s bye week, where he discussed his program’s recent breakthrough.
“Well, I think we’re achieving what we had always dreamed of achieving,” Drinkwitz said. “There’s still a lot of work laid out in front of us. But I think it’s a moment to say, ‘Hey, we can accomplish what we believed we could accomplish by coming to school here,’ whether it was the dream that we sold to [wide receiver] Luther Burden or the vision that I had when we took this job, or the vision that I’ve sold to the staff and to the administration on investing in us and the reasons why to invest.
“So I think it’s a proud moment in time for the state of Missouri. You’ve got great football at the college level, and then you’ve got great football at the NFL level, so for the 6.5 million residents of the state of Missouri, I think they can all get behind both us and the Chiefs right now. And that’s an awesome thing.”
Alas, it’s easy to see why Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers have become exciting for the entire State of Missouri. Time will tell how long they can keep up their run, but it’s evident the program has immense confidence moving forward.
