Former Michigan staff member Connor Stalions, who was at the center of Michigan’s sign-stealing scandal, recently sat down with the Bussin’ With The Boys crew to cover a variety of topics.

One question Stalions was asked is if anyone else in the Big Ten steals signs at the “same level” that he did during his time with the Wolverines.

According to Stalions, there are four Big Ten teams who are on the same level as the Wolverines in terms of sign-stealing.

“I’m not there, so I don’t wanna say exactly ‘this is what this team’s doing, this is what that team’s doing.’ But there’s a lot of Big Ten teams who are at that level,” Connor Stalions said. “It’s Ohio State, Rutgers, I believe Penn State. Indiana’s really good. Those are probably the top four in the Big Ten who we’re all on the same level.”

Connor Stalions was also asked about Nebraska and what level the Cornhuskers are at due to Bussin With The Boys co-host Will Compton being a former Nebraska star.

Stalions said that Nebraska isn’t on the same level as those other programs but also said the Cornhuskers aren’t too far behind.

“If you’re going to say five tiers, they’re probably tier two, tier three,” Stalions said. “They’re good at protecting, so they’ve gotta know at least something.”

The former Michigan staffer, who was the alleged mastermind behind an entire sign stealing operation with the Wolverines, wanted to make sure his team was in position to get to the conference title game. At the time, Michigan lost to Michigan State, which meant the Spartans had to lose two games in order for Michigan-Ohio State to be for the East division title and a spot in the Big Ten title game.

So, Stalions went the extra mile, as he admitted on Bussin’ With The Boys.

“2021 we lose to Michigan State, Kenneth Walker (had) a great game,” Stalions said. “Played fantastic and we needed some help, right? They had to lose twice …. and we would have beaten Ohio State, and then it would just been us and Ohio State, because then Michigan State would not have been in that three way tie. And (Michigan State) lost to Purdue.

“Then I think it was the next week they played Ohio State, the week before we played Ohio State. And so we needed Ohio State to win, so I gave Michigan State signals to a buddy of mine.”

Michigan State lost to Purdue, as Stalions alluded to, but actually beat Maryland the next week. Standing at 9-1 and ranked No. 7, the Spartans walked into Ohio State’s house, playing the No. 4 team in the country.

It didn’t end well, perhaps thanks in part to Stalions.

“(I) said, ‘Hey,’ I changed all the logos, I made it look like it came from a different school,” Stalions said. “I don’t want to give Ohio State something from Michigan, right? They might not use it, who knows? But we need Ohio State to win, and I know they steal the crap out of defensive signals. So here you go. So I made it. I gave it to a buddy who may have given it to a buddy who then gave it to Ohio State … ‘I got this from so and so. You know, name your school, university,’ and yeah, so they got. I’m sure they probably already had them, but it just confirmed everything. But, yeah, then they won like 60-0.”

Michigan lost 56-7 and dropped to No. 12 in the country, beating Penn State the final week of the season. But by then, it was too late as Stalions and Michigan celebrated Jim Harbaugh’s first victory over Ohio State.

The Wolverines went on to win the Big Ten Championship and made the College Football Playoff.
