Cooper Manning goes viral for massive cowboy hat at Red River Rivalry
When it comes to the Texas Longhorns, there’s few families on Planet Earth as famous as the Mannings. And Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning’s dad, was in attendance for Saturday’s Red River Rivalry. Cooper Manning had to make sure he was styling in an incredibly large cowboy hat.
More on Cooper Manning and his football career
Cooper Manning is the younger brother of Peyton and Eli Manning, one of the most famous football families of all-time. Cooper played his high school football at Isidore Newman (New Orleans, Louisiana), where he had a breakout season his senior year with his brother Peyton as his quarterback. Coming out of high school, he was a highly ranked prospect, committing to the University of Mississippi.
In summer practices, he started to experience numbness in his fingers and toes. That’s when he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spine and a pinching of the nerves. Manning accepted the diagnosis and immediately ended his football playing career.

Manning had to have been happy on Saturday, because this year’s Red River Rivalry ended up in a 34-3 blowout for the Texas Longhorns. Texas jumped out to a 21-3 lead at halftime, and they never looked back. Quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 20 of his 29 passes for 199 yards, while tossing in one touchdown and one interception.
Oklahoma tried to roll out dual-threat freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. He completed 19 of 30 passes for 148 yards, while tossing no touchdowns and interceptions. Known as a dynamic runner, the Longhorns’ defense was able to bottle up Hawkins on the ground. He only managed 27 rushing yards on 20 carries, averaging 1.35 yards per carry.
