Coveted 2023 ATH Max Carroll finds his fit with TCU

Eads (Tenn.) Briarcrest Chrisitan two-way athlete Max Carroll is all TCU. Carroll, the No. 515 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus rankings was sold after his latest visit to Fort Worth.
The coaching staff made Carroll feel at home.
“It was just the way they treat me,” Carroll told On3. “It meant a lot to me when we went on the trip and everyone was so nice to each other. I love how they are as a whole on and off the field… I’d already seen the campus and everything. This time they just showed me how they would use me.”
Carroll will likely play on the defensive side of the football for TCU. He will primarily work at the ‘star’ position.
Early in his recruitment teams were coveting Carroll as a tight end. In recent months, the defensive opportunity has come up more often. Carroll likes the idea of that role at TCU.
Carroll doesn’t have a numerical goal for himself at TCU. It’s all about the development that will take place over the next few years.
“I really just want to better myself as a player on and off the field,” Carroll said. “I want to mature and make it to the league.”

Carroll will be playing on the defensive side of the ball but running backs coach Anthony Jones has been a big key in his recruitment.
“He’s been recruiting me for a long time,” Carroll said. “I appreciate everything that he’s done for me and I hope he continues to be the guy that he is.”
The move to Texas not a big deal for Max Carroll
Carroll has grown accustomed to the Texas atmosphere as a byproduct of being in an athletic family. He and his sister have competed in the state multiple times throughout their high school careers.
Carroll quickly developed an attraction to Fort Worth as a city.
“I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a difference for me,” Carroll said. “I’m there a lot. I go to there or Dallas once or twice a year. I’m pretty familiar with the city and my family is too.”
