Curt Cignetti: 'Whether we're playing in the Rose Bowl or the parking lot, it's all the same'
Curt Cignetti is preparing to lead the Indiana Hoosiers into battle against the UCLA Bruins inside the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California in Week 3.
Ahead of the clash, much has been made about the Hoosiers entering the storied college football cathedral. If you listen to the Indiana head coach though, it’s simply another game for Cignetti’s team, as they won’t be intimidated by the historic venue the Bruins call home.
“The Rose Bowl has a lot of tradition for people that follow football. For me, for the team, it’s more of a business trip,” Cignetti said, via Zach Osterman of the Indy Star. “Whether we’re playing in the Rose Bowl or the parking lot, it’s all the same.”
It’s as simple as that for Cignetti. His latest comments echo those that he made earlier at Big Ten Media Days regarding the Rose Bowl, as it’s not personal against UCLA, Indiana is just going on the road with the same mindset week-in and week-out.

“We’re just going to an old stadium to kick somebody’s ass,” Cignetti stated, earlier this summer. “When I say that, that’s not directed toward UCLA. That’s the objective every week.”

After their performance in Week 2, it’s easy to see why Cignetti is oozing confidence about his team’s abilities. The Hoosiers put up 77 on Western Illinois, one week after a 31-7 drubbing against FIU in Week 1.
On the other hand, UCLA enjoyed a bye week after a trip to Hawaii in Week 1, where they narrowly escaped with a 16-13 victory. It might’ve been a win, but it hasn’t inspired much confidence in the Bruins moving forward.
Regardless, it’s a huge game for UCLA, as they must go on the road, and face UCLA in Week 4. If Indiana wins, they’ll return home undefeated and welcome Charlotte to town, with Curt Cignetti having the Hoosiers kicking on all cylinders.
