4-star Curtis Williams talks Louisville, Providence visits; sets commitment date
Curtis Williams is the No. 58 player in the 2023 On3 Consensus. The 6-foot-6 forward had a steady summer with The Family program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit. He averaged 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 threes per game in 24 games played.
“I can shoot and play make,” Williams told On3. “I can play on the defensive end and offensive rebound. I’ve played with a higher motor this summer, focusing on doing the little things other than just scoring. I watch a lot of Jimmy Butler; how tough he is. Even if the shot isn’t falling, he’s doing something.”
College coaches took note of the four-star from Michigan and have made him a priority. On3 caught up with Curtis Williams to talk about visits.
“I took an official visit to Xavier,” Williams said. “I got a visit set with Louisville and Providence; then I’m going to commit.”
Williams talks visits
Xavier: “I took my first official visit there. It’s a basketball school; they are all basketball there. They showed me how my shooting fits in with their system. How they like their wings and forwards to be able to push it.”
Louisville: “They got a great staff there; Danny Manning, Kenny Payne, Nolan Smith. They got a good system growing over there, so I like them a lot. I visit them on September 16.”

Providence: “Coach (Ed) Cooley is talking with me, and they have stayed in constant contact, recruiting me. They tell me I can come in and make a big impact right away as a freshman. I set my visit there for September 8.”
Williams thoughts
“I’m committing September 19,” Williams said. “I want to see how they’re going to develop me and what kind of tradition the schools have.
“I want to go somewhere I can be myself. I’m looking for a new home where I can go be Curtis. I know how to do a lot of things, so I can fit into a lot of different styles. My decision will be more about the fit. My connection with the coaches and how the coaches connect with the players will be big.”
On3’s take
Curtis Williams is a long-armed, strong-framed wing/forward prospect. He has shooting touch with deep range. He’s around 6-foot-6 and is not afraid of the moment. Williams is a solid area rebounder and is a threat to grab and go off the boards. He is a solid athlete. There will be questions about where and who he defends and if he can slide his feet to guard on the perimeter. He will need to stay on top of his conditioning. Williams has a great frame, with long arms, and is skilled. He knocked down 1.4 threes per game on Nike’s EYBL Circuit and grabbed close to six rebounds. Williams has a great frame, with long arms, and is skilled.
