D1Baseball releases new top 25 rankings after college baseball's third weekend
It’s Monday, which means D1Baseball has released updated top 25 rankings. The third weekend of college baseball was a fun one, with ranked matchups and upsets throughout.
Of course, weather also played a role throughout the weekend. Some series saw games canceled or postponed, while others were forced into doubleheaders or lengthy delays.
Weather aside, though, it was a great weekend, and week, of college baseball. The top ten in last week’s D1Baseball’s top 25 did well, as it continues to be tough to break into the group at the top of the country. Regardless, there is plenty of movement throughout the rankings heading into the new week.
Here is a full look at how D1Baseball’s top 25 shapes up following the third weekend of the season.
1. Wake Forest
Previous Ranking: No. 1
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 10-1
Wake Forest lost their midweek battle last week, but they didn’t let that happen again. Defeating North Carolina A&T 12-1, the Demon Deacons stayed hot entering the weekend, where they defeated Binghamton twice before shutting out Elon to secure a weekend sweep.
2. Arkansas
Previous Ranking: No. 2
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 9-2
After blowing out Grambling in midweek action, winning 21-1, Arkansas had even more success over the weekend. Hagen Smith continued to dominate on Friday, leading the Razorbacks to a 5-1 win. The series was won with a 11-1 victory on Saturday, and the sweep was secured with a 5-3 triumph on Sunday.
3. LSU
Previous Ranking: No. 3
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 11-1
LSU started off the week at Rice, and won the midweek contest 16-4. That was just the beginning of what turned into a great weekend for the Tigers. LSU beat No. 15 Texas 6-3 on Friday, and then picked up another strong win over Louisiana on Saturday, winning 5-4. On Sunday, LSU finished off the weekend sweep by beating Texas State 10-3.
4. Florida
Previous Ranking: No. 4
Weekly Record: 3-2
Overall Record: 8-3
After getting back on track last week, Florida stumbled a bit with a pair of losses this week. The Gators fell on Tuesday against Stetson, but responded with a victory over Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday. Facing Miami over the weekend in an intriguing in-state battle, Florida was able to take Friday and Sunday’s games, winning the series. But while Saturday’s loss gave the Gators two on the week, they did not fall in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings.
5. TCU
Previous Ranking: No. 5
Weekly Record: 5-0
Overall Record: 12-0
TCU has had to battle it out in a bunch of tight games this year, but they just keep winning. Tuesday’s game against Washington State took 12 innings, but the Horned Frogs won 8-7. They then beat Arizona 6-1 on Wednesday. Over the weekend, TCU beat Arizona State on Saturday, and also won two games against Arizona State, one on Friday and one on Sunday, remaining undefeated on the year.

Winning the four games by a combined score of 48-19, Oregon State remains perfect on the year and highly ranked in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings.
7. Texas A&M
Previous Ranking: No. 7
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 11-0
Texas A&M is another team that just keeps winning. The Aggies first faced Lamar during the midweek slate, and won that game 13-2. They faced Arizona State twice over the weekend, winning 4-0 on Friday and 10-5 on Sunday. Against USC on Saturday, Texas A&M won 9-3.
8. Tennessee
Previous Ranking: No. 8
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 11-1
Tennessee’s week began in the midweek against High Point, and they won 7-4 to get the week started on a high note. They then hosted Bowling Green over the weekend, winning 11-1 on Friday, 12-1 on Saturday and 16-6 on Sunday, sweeping their way to another dominant, perfect week.
9. Vanderbilt
Previous Ranking: No. 9
Weekly Record: 5-0
Overall Record: 10-3
Vanderbilt fell in last week’s D1Baseball top 25 rankings, but they certainly got back on track this week. After blowing out Indiana State 20-4 on Tuesday, the Commodores beat Evansville 7-3 on Wednesday to head into the weekend. Vanderbilt then beat Louisiana 7-4 on Friday, Houston 3-1 on Saturday, and No. 15 Texas 14-11 on Sunday. And the doubters might have been silenced in the process.
10. Clemson
Previous Ranking: No. 10
Weekly Record: 3-0
Overall Record: 9-1
Clemson started off the week against USC Upstate, and won that midweek battle 12-6. The Tigers then battled against No. 19 South Carolina over the weekend, in a series that ended up being just two games due to weather. Friday’s game will be made up later in the year, but Clemson was able to come away with a pair of 5-4 victories to round out the weekend.
