D1Baseball releases updated top 25 rankings entering final week of college baseball's regular season
College baseball is approaching the end of the regular season, and the rankings have again taken shape with some big-time movement. After seven ranked teams lost their series over the weekend, D1Baseball has released new top 25 rankings.
Teams are still fighting to solidify their positions in the postseason right now, and this past week could have major impacts on the eventual Field of 64. The weekend’s four series between two top 25 teams could especially play a major role in how the field shakes out.
For the second consecutive weekend, previously top-ranked LSU has lost a series. The No. 2 Tigers took the first game at home against Mississippi State via the run rule, but it was all Bulldogs from there. Mississippi State won 9-4 on Saturday before taking Sunday’s rubber match in extra innings.
The SEC delivered two more baseball matchups between teams in the top ten in the rankings, with No. 3 Arkansas taking two out of three against No. 6 South Carolina and No. 7 Florida sweeping No. 5 Vanderbilt. Those weren’t the only top 25 SEC matchups, though, as No. 23 Tennessee took two out of three at home against No. 17 Kentucky.
No. 10 Duke struggled on the week, going 2-3 overall. The Blue Devils hosted Georgia Tech over the weekend, and the Yellow Jackets took two out of three to secure the series.

The final top 25 matchup of the weekend was between No. 18 Dallas Baptist and No. 22 UTSA in a battle for the top of Conference USA. Dallas Baptist cruised to take the weekend, sweeping UTSA to put a serious stamp on their hosting chances.
Although the top 25 teams that lost this weekend are safely in the postseason picture, most are still fighting for a spot as a regional host. How the next two weeks play out, including the final week of the regular season and conference tournament week, will play a pivotal role in the most important rankings in baseball when the field is released.
