Dabo Swinney proclaims Fran Brown will ride with him in Clemson parade if Tigers win national title
Fran Brown and Syracuse kept hope alive for Clemson to reach the College Football Playoff and potentially win a national title this past weekend. The Orange rallied from a 21-0 deficit to beat Miami Saturday evening and send Clemson to the ACC Championship Game.
Dabo Swinney and company were heartbroken after falling to rival South Carolina on Saturday, but just a few hours later, the Tigers learned that their national championship dreams were still alive.
Dabo Swinney said at his press conference on Tuesday that if Clemson goes on to win the national title, he has big plans for Syracuse head coach Fran Brown.
“Man, if we win the national championship, he’s going to be riding in the car with me through downtown Clemson,” Dabo Swinney said. “Just go ahead and print that right now.”
Clemson obviously still has plenty of work to do in order to win a national championship. The Tigers need to beat SMU on Saturday to get into the College Football Playoff, then would have to go on a run once they make it.
However, Swinney believes his team is more than capable of going on a run and making some serious noise in the CFP.
“Why not? Like, why not? I mean it’s just football,” Dabo Swinney said. “We’ve gotta bunch of good players. All you’ve gotta do is win the game you’re playing. Why not? I mean somebody’s going to win it.

“If we’re fortunate enough to win this game you get a ticket to Willy Wonka’s factory, right? You get to go. You get on a magic elevator. And you get to be in the tournament. So if we’re fortunate enough to win this game and get this opportunity anything can happen. Anything can happen.”
Dabo Swinney would love nothing more than to be parading around Clemson with Fran Brown by his side next month. Swinney has already won two national titles and believes this group is capable of winning a third.
“I think we were the first 15-0 national championship team. Maybe we can be the first three-loss team. Boy, that would upset some people,” Swinney said. “Gah, y’all would have to take a bunch of stuff back that you say every day. That would really disappoint some people. But why not? Why not?
“Lets dream big. Why not? Fran Brown, he’s going to be riding in the car with me, convertible, through downtown Clemson. … So why not? It’s postseason. It’s postseason. We ain’t gotta go play 12 games. We’ve just gotta win a few of them. Let’s see what happens. We’re going to give it all we’ve got. I promise you that.”
