Four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields of Gardena (CA) Junipero Serra High flipped his commitment from USC to Oregon Monday night.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pounder had been committed to the Trojans since June 5th.

“What really led me to picking Oregon was the genuine relationships I have with the staff,” Fields said. “Coach Tosh, Lanning, and Meat have been applying pressure since day 1; even more since I committed to USC. They made it very clear that I was top priority. Coach Lanning is a defensive minded head coach which plays a huge part in my decision. With the defensive staff that they have I know that with hard work I can achieve my goal of becoming a first round NFL draft pick.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a key role in his decision as well.

“I talk to someone from that staff every single day. Specifically Lanning, Tosh, Meat, and Wadu. Everyday they show me why Oregon is the best fit for me. I’m even able to talk to them about more personal things whether it’s school, family, where I am mentally or anything that’s really important to me. As far as on the field, they plan on using me the same way they did with Christian Gonzalez as we have the same build/frame. They believe that with my size, length, strength, and speed, I can be one of the next great corners.”

The Golden State cornerback joins coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks’ Top 15 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star cornerback Ify Obidegwu, four-star safety Aaron Flowers, and others.
