The Dallas Cowboys came out swinging in round one of the NFL playoffs and more than covered the spread versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They finally beat Tom Brady and broke a 30-year losing streak in road playoff games.

Dallas has the opportunity for revenge this week against the San Francisco 49ers, but this time, they’ll be the underdogs. The Cowboys opened as 3.5-point dogs in Vegas versus the streaking 49ers who’ve won 10 games in a row.

Jerry Jones’ squad hasn’t made it past the divisional round of the playoffs since 1995 when they beat the Eagles, Packers and Steelers to end the season hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

Since beating the Bucs, the Cowboys’ odds to win the NFC championship and Super Bowl 57 have increased. Meanwhile, the Eagles and the 49ers now have equal odds to win the conference, although San Francisco still has slightly better odds to win the Super Bowl.

Mattress Mack bets big on Dallas Cowboys

Houston furniture store owner and gambling fiend Mattress Mack lost a major bet when he backed the TCU Horned Frogs for the College Football Playoff championship but he’s back at it again for the NFL playoffs. Jim McIngvale, better known to the world as Mattress Mack, placed a $200,000 bet on the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC championship prior to the Bucs game.

The $200,000 bet with +625 odds would net him $1.45 million in winnings if the Cowboys make it past the 49ers to ultimately play in and win the NFC title game. The odds have since shifted to +360, so McIngvale’s bet was well-timed.

For last year’s Super Bowl, Mattress Mack lost a $4.5 million bet that he put on the Cincinnati Bengals. That was the largest mobile wager in the history of sports betting. He also won $75 million in total payouts for the Houston Astros winning the 2022 World Series.
