Ahead of the Tuesday, 4:00 p.m. ET deadline when teams must have their rosters cut to 53 players, the Dallas Cowboys have released several people.
In addition to previously-reported cuts of quarterbacks Ben DiNucci and Garrett Gilbert, the Cowboys have let five others go.
Dallas waived two defensive players Tuesday morning: defensive end Ron’Dell Carter and defensive tackle Austin Faoilu.
Carter is a former James Madison player who played in three games in 2020. He recorded one tackle.
Rookie Faoliu is a former Oregon player expected to land on the Cowboys’ practice squad. He recorded 113 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and six sacks for the Ducks.
On the offensive side of the ball, Dallas released three players.
Undrafted rookie wide receiver Osirus Mitchell signed with the Cowboys in May but is no longer with the team. Mitchell was a three-year starter for Mississippi State who compiled 107 catches for 1,413 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Offensive tackle Eric Smith was let go Tuesday as well. Smith played in three games over two seasons in the NFL; he played two with the Giants and one with the Cowboys. The 6-foot-4, 308-pound lineman out of Virginia was undrafted in 2017.
Lastly, offensive guard Isaac Alarcón was cut Tuesday. The Mexican lineman who was profiled on HBO’s Hard Knocks has been a positive presence in Dallas.
“Right now, I’m just thinking, hopefully just to stay with the Cowboys”, Alarcon said after Sunday night’s loss to the Jaguars. “I love this team. My goal wasn’t ever to be in the NFL. This is a blessing for me. I am thanking God every day for the opportunity I have.”
Alarcón was part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program in which he trained with NFL players at IMG Academy after being selected at an international combine in Germany in 2019. Alarcón was waived from the Cowboys in September 2020 and signed to the practice squad the following day.
