UConn exited the NCAA Tournament in the second round after falling short of its upset bid over No. 1-seed Florida. As the Huskies were walking to the locker room, head coach Dan Hurley turned to the Baylor Bears, who were about to hit the court for their own Round of 32 game, sending them a NSFW warning.

“I hope the don’t f*** you like they f***ed us,” Hurley said. “I really hope they don’t do that to you, Baylor.”

It’s the first loss in the NCAA Tournament for UConn since the 2022 season. The Huskies were looking for a third consecutive national championship win this season. They would have been the first team to earn this distinction since UCLA‘s run of seven in a row from 1967-1973, but ultimately ends short of that goal. UConn ultimately lost four of its starters last summer to the NBA from last season’s championship squad.

Despite taking the lead over the Gators down the stretch in the second half, the Huskies wouldn’t be able to overcome the Florida back court in the end. Florida star Walter Clayton Jr. made two key 3-pointers in the final minutes of the game to help keep the Huskies at arm’s length. In the end, the first-team All-American guard scored 23 points as the No. 1-seeded Gators survive the upset and advance to the Sweet 16.

Dan Hurley emotional after Florida loss

For the first time in nearly three years, UConn won’t be playing in the National Championship. After the Huskies’ 77-75 loss to Florida in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32 on Sunday, UConn head coach Dan Hurley couldn’t hold back his flood of emotions.

“[Florida] showed their quality. I mean, I thought we played with tremendous honor. I thought we played with the heart of a championship program. And a program that has gone back to back,” Hurley told CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson. “For a team to end what we really wanted to do, they were going to have to put us down.

“Obviously, a worthy opponent like that, there’s honor in the way we went out. Just love them. I mean, just love them. This year has been a real battle. We’ve battled, and had to battle and battle and battle.

“At times, I don’t we liked each other a whole lot, with some of the things we had to go through together. But, I don’t think I’ll ever love a team more for how hard they fought for what we were trying to accomplish and for the honor they played with today.”
