Dan Jackson on Georgia preparing for Quinn Ewers, Arch Manning: 'We'll be ready for both of them'
Georgia defensive back Dan Jackson knows the Bulldogs have to prepare for two quarterbacks: Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning.
Sure, Texas starts Ewers under center, but Manning provides a running threat, in addition to a talented arm, when necessary. Heck, Manning scored the first touchdown against Texas A&M last week.
Georgia already beat both of them in the regular season meeting, but Jackson isn’t looking into the past. Only at the SEC Championship.
“Yeah, I think first and foremost, they come from a great program,” Jackson said. “They’re both really smart guys. Nobody’s the exact same. We’re definitely going to be watching a lot of film this week, like we have in the past. We’re just going to be ready for both of them. They’re both great athletes, yeah.”
“I mean, right now, based off of what we’ve seen, you could say that,” Jackson said of preparing more for the run with Manning. “Both of them, like I said, are great athletes. We’ll be ready for both of them.”
In the win over Texas A&M, Ewers was 17 of 28 passing for 218 yards, one touchdown and one interception while Manning didn’t throw a pass.

Manning ran three times for 14 yards and a touchdown in the 17-7 win.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian was asked the same thing about Ewers and Manning and what kind of involvement the backup QB would have against Georgia.
“We might,” Sarkisian smiled. “I don’t know. I would say, no, we haven’t fully opened our playbook because as a staff we sit around and think about our roster and we think about our team and we think about what we’re good at and we think about what we can improve, and we’re gonna run stuff Saturday that we haven’t run all year because of who were are as a team now and finding new ways to try and move the football and create issues for our opponents.
“There’s always things that we’re gonna do that are new. I think that the beauty of these guys, offensively, is that they really accept that stuff. Okay, here’s why we’re doing it. So, let’s make sure we get this aspect right.”
The 2024 SEC Championship between Georgia and Texas, which could feature both Ewers and Manning, is set for Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET in Atlanta.
