The Oregon Ducks got some good news on the injury front recently with head coach Dan Lanning now optimistic that both Gary Bryant Jr. and Matthew Bedford will be able to play in Week 2 against Boise State.

Both Bryant and Bedford have been dealing with injuries that left them questionable going into Week 2, but after being able to practice Lanning shared that he’s optimistic about them.

“Yeah,” Dan Lanning said. “I am [optimistic they’ll play].”

Gary Bryant Jr., a wide receiver for the Ducks, came into the season battling injury issues that seemed to pop up during camp. He’s now in his second season with Oregon after transferring into the program from USC. It’s been a big loss as he came into the season expected to be a productive contributor on the offense a season after he played in 14 games and made 12 starts with 30 receptions for 442 yards and four touchdowns.

For his part, offensive lineman Matthew Bedford has been dealing with a knee injury. The Indiana transfer has a lot of experience that the Ducks were hoping to add to their offensive lineman, having made 41 appearances with Indiana and starting in 39 of those games.

Lanning also noted that once Bedford returns, there is a chance that the offensive line could be shaken up and that the entire unit needs to play better than it did in Week 1.

This next game is going to be an important one for the Oregon Ducks. After struggling at times with Idaho, Boise State is a capable team looking to pull off an upset. Meanwhile, the Ducks will look to get rolling and that’s easier to do with as many players available as possible.

Dan Lanning calls Ashton Jeanty the best running back he’s seen at Oregon

Boise State is going to test Oregon’s defense with Ashton Jeanty at running back. He’s someone who Dan Lanning says is the best he’s seen since getting to Oregon.

“I think this is the best running back I’ve seen since I’ve been here,” Lanning said. “He’s certainly an NFL guy, he doesn’t go down on the first contact ever. He’s one of the best stiff arm guys that we’ve gone against, he runs really, really physical.”

Ashton Jeanty enters the game coming off a 267-yard and six-touchdown performance against Georgia Southern.
