Dan Lanning shares players are 'for sure' aware Oregon is 0-3 all-time vs. Boise State
As odd as it sounds — Oregon has never beaten Boise State in football.
The Ducks are 0-3 all-time against the Broncos dating back to the two team’s first meeting in 2008, and will look to earn bragging rights over the Mountain West power for the first time ever this Saturday in Eugene. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning says his team is well aware of the stat.
“We’ve talked,” Lanning said on Wednesday. “Our players are aware of the history of this game, for sure. Excited to get the opportunity to step on the field.”
Oregon scored 24 points during a low-scoring win against Idaho, calling into question whether the Ducks’ offense will be as potent as they have been since Lanning arrived on campus.

Whether Oregon’s low-scoring season opening performance was just Dan Lanning’s squad getting their feet under them remains to be seen, but this appears to be a hungry Boise State team that feels as though they have one of, if not the best running back in the country in Ashton Jeanty. He scored six touchdowns on the ground during the Broncos’ season-opening victory.
Defensively, Oregon held Idaho to 49 total rushing yards during the contest. In Week 1, Jeanty scored two 75 yard touchdowns for Boise State by himself. While the Ducks’ defense did their part in Week 1, Oregon knows their offense will need to improve on the chance they can’t contain Jeanty this weekend.

However, Lanning expects a stronger outing from his offense on Saturday. They’ve worked on staying in sequence and rhythm, staying on schedule and staying ahead of the sticks this weeks, Lanning said. As long as the Ducks can avoid penalties, he feels as though quarterback Dillon Gabriel and his offensive unit can move the ball down the field this weekend.
“How as a unit do we create explosives?” Lanning asked. “And that’s again, being connected at the end of plays. You have to take what the defense gives you at times. But can we go find somebody to block when the ball’s thrown? Can we go a little bit extra effort to create that explosive run?”
Lanning’s questions will be answered this Saturday inside Autzen Stadium. Kickoff between the Ducks and Broncos is set for 10 p.m. ET live on Peacock.
