Danny Kanell reacts to Florida State week 2 loss with crazy career lowlight
Former Florida State quarterback Danny Kanell was not happy with his alma mater’s performance on Monday.
He watched the Seminoles drop their second game of the season against Boston College 28-13 at home. While he had some hope that his team would piece the game back together in the second half, he ultimately revealed his true feelings on the game’s outcome.
It’s fair to say more Florida State fans than Kanell feel as though they were blindsided by a linebacker after the Seminoles’ showing.
Kanell played for Florida State in the 1990s. He was the team’s starting quarterback after Charlie Ward, who he backed up for his first two seasons on campus. Starting as a junior and senior, he threw for over 6,000 yards with the Seminoles and 57 touchdowns, a school record at the time.

Speaking of sacks, Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was dropped three times during the contest despite throwing for 272 yards in the loss. Fans inside Doak Campbell appeared to be unhappy with their quarterback’s play, chanting ‘We want Brock,’ referring to backup quarterback Brock Glenn amid their offense’s struggles. Uiagalelei would go on to play the entire game for Florida State despite the crowd’s efforts.
Defensively, Florida State had few answers for Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos. He finished with 106 passing yards and two touchdowns, but it was the effort on the ground that was too much for the Florida State defense. Three Eagles rushed for over 70 yards, including Castellanos, as BC rushed for nearly 300 yards against Florida State.

Louis Riddick reacts to DJ Uiagalelei poor showing vs. Boston College
Florida State was stunned by Boston College on Monday night, falling to the Eagles 28-13 inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei completed 50 percent of his passing attempts, but failed to develop a steady rhythm down the stretch. He showed flashes, but ultimately ESPN commentator Louis Riddick believes that the Seminoles have a ways to go offensively before the passing game will be reliable in Tallahassee.
“There just isn’t a chemistry, a rhythm, a consistency with which he can connect with his wide receivers at this point,” Riddick told Scott Van Pelt after calling the game for ESPN. “And there really isn’t a second reaction, dynamic component to his game … His counterpart on the other sideline today (Thomas Castellanos), you saw it. It didn’t have to be perfect for him. When it kind of got a little sideways, He goes, ‘Guess what? I’ll take over now. I’ll do this.’ Guess who could do that for Florida State a year ago before he got hurt? Jordan Travis.
“When you watch Boston College versus Florida State last year up at Boston College, Jordan Travis gave Boston College’s defense fits. They didn’t have that component here today.”
