Danny Kanell reacts to Georgia Tech upsetting Florida State
Danny Kanell is still trying to make sense of the upset loss for Florida State against Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon. The former Seminoles quarterback vented on X following the 24-21 loss to the Yellow Jackets, trying to stay positive in the midst of everything.
Kanell, now a radio host at CBS Sports, chose to take the narrative that one loss won’t define the entire season. There’s still 11 football games left to be played and he believes FSU can find its way back on track.

“It’s not how you start….” he wrote.
Things remained close throughout most of the game with neither team leading by more than a touchdown the entire way. The contest was knotted up at 14 at halftime and that remained the score heading into the fourth quarter.
Georgia Tech took the lead on the very first play of the fourth quarter as Jamal Haynes punched in a touchdown to make it 21-14. The Seminoles responded by marching down to score its own touchdown on the very next drive to even things back up with 6:33 left.
Unfortunately, that would be the last time they got the ball as the Yellow Jackets did a good job of milking the clock the rest of the way. They drove all the way down to the FSU 26-yard line before kicking a 44-yard field goal as time expired to win the game.

It was somewhat of a disappointing debut for transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who failed to score a touchdown on the afternoon. He finished the contest 19-of-27 passing for 193 yards. The Seminoles also failed to surpass the 100-yard rushing mark in what was a rough day for their offense.
Coming off of an undefeated regular season and ACC Championship in 2023, Florida State entered this year ranked No. 10 in the preseason AP poll. Now the Seminoles will certainly drop as a result of the loss and their goal of repeating as conference champions just got a lot more difficult.
“I mean, I know how we work and I know what the team is about, so I feel like, we’ve just gotta focus on ourselves, basically,” running back Lawrance Toafili said. “You know. We’ve just gotta get better and that’s how we’re gonna go about our business.”
FSU will look to bounce back next week when it takes on Boston College on Sept. 2 in Tallahassee.
