The top-six for Kanell stayed the same but saw one shift with Miami and Tennessee trading places at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. That could be off for some considering the two results that they each had this weekend. The Volunteers opened conference play on the road for a Top-15 matchup against Oklahoma and got a 25-15 win in Norman. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes went away too and got a 35-point win over USF.

As for the back half, Utah and Louisville entered the ratings for Kanell in place of USC and Kansas State. The Utes and the Cardinals opened league play in the Big 12 and ACC with important wins over Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech. The Trojans and Wildcats did the opposite with road losses to start their conference slate at Michigan and at BYU.

In total, Kanell gave six spots to the SEC in his Top-12 – much like the latest AP Poll did. The same can be said for the Big Ten at three with Ohio State, Oregon, and Penn State, although the Ducks are rated higher for him than the Buckeyes. The ACC then has two with the addition of the Cards while the Big 12 is down to one in Utah at No. 10.
