5-star Oregon QB commit Dante Moore visits with Chip Kelly at UCLA
Detroit (Mich.) Martin Luther King five-star quarterback and Oregon commit Dante Moore was at UCLA for an official visit this weekend with the Bruins.
The trip was Moore’s first known visit since he committed to the Ducks over the summer, choosing Oregon over Texas A&M, Michigan, Michigan State, LSU and Notre Dame.
But the Bruins have made “a strong push” recently, according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, and Oregon recently lost offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham to Arizona State, where he became the head coach.

“UCLA’s offense, which finished top-5 nationally in total offense —along with Kelly’s development of Dorian Thompson-Robinson — have been selling points that have resonated with Moore,” Simmons said over the weekend.
On Monday, Moore posted a picture on his Twitter account with Kelly.
Ducks head coach Dan Lanning visited Moore at the beginning of the month, but will have to work fiercely to hold onto the No. 9 overall player in the On3 Consensus rankings as the Bruins — and potentially others — look to flip him ahead of the Early Signing Period.
Dante Moore Scouting Summary
“Pocket passer who is one of the more accurate and efficient quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle. Skilled as a touch passer with the ability to layer throws and deliver with accuracy and nuance. Has a quick, natural release that aids in the short passing and RPO game. Shows a good arm both on video and in camp settings. Capable of hitting on deep shots off of play action.
“Put together a highly efficient and productive junior season in leading Martin Luther King to a state title while completing 73 percent of his passes for over 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns against three interceptions. Does not appear to be quite the athlete or run threat as some of the other top quarterbacks in the cycle at this time. Will need to continue improving his movement skills and foot quickness.”
