4-star WR Daylan McCutcheon flips commitment from Florida State to Texas
Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon has flipped his commitment from Florida State to Texas, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
He was pledged to the Seminoles since July 13, but now joins an elite WR class set to head to Austin that also includes five-stars Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett.
McCutcheon is the No. 104 overall prospect and No. 14 WR in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 21 player in Texas.
On3 ranks the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder higher than other recruiting services. He checks in as the No. 68 recruit, No. 12 wideout and No. 17 player in the Lone Star State in the updated 2025 On300.
McCutcheon continued to keep the Longhorns warm after his pledge to FSU, returning to Austin for a game visit this season. He told InsideTexas earlier this month that he was keeping his options open and is now in the fold for Steve Sarkisian and Co.

“What I liked the most is offensively seeing Coach Sarkisian, seeing how he’s able to use the wide receivers in his play style,” McCutcheon told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “Obviously Coach Jackson with him recruiting me for the longest with how our relationship built throughout the years and him coming from NFL and with that being said made me fall in love with Texas. Especially with them being close to home.”
McCutcheon now joins a Texas recruiting class that ranks No. 6 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He’s one of nine On300 top-100 prospects in the mix, alongside the likes of Ffrench, Lockett, five-star safety Jonah Williams and four-star EDGE Lance Jackson.
Scout’s Take on Daylan McCutcheon
On3’s Cody Bellaire said this of McCutcheon following his decision to flip to the Longhorns:
“One of the most polished wideouts in the county. His body control and route running combined with his ability to pluck the football so comfortably makes him a plug-and-play pass-catcher at the next level. AND his athleticism still gives him a high ceiling. He’s the real deal.”
