Koby Brea has set up a pair of visits to two of the best programs in college basketball over the next few days.

Per On3’s Joe Tipton, Brea, who is transferring from Dayton, will be at UConn from today through Sunday. He will then go to Duke next week from Tuesday through Thursday.

However, that’s not all per the latest from Jamie Shaw. These trips to Storrs and Durham will actually be Brea’s only two transfer visits from what he told On3. That could suggest some good news for either the Huskies or Blue Devils. It also possibly means the opposite for the other schools under his previous consideration in Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina.

Brea has spent the past four seasons with the Flyers with this year being a junior one for him. He has been a reserve for most of his career in 113 collegiate appearances.

While at Dayton, Brea averaged 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. He did so while shooting 44.2% from the field and 43.4% from three.

In ’23-’24, he had a career year with averages of 11.1 points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 51.2% from the field and 49.8% from three on three makes from distance a game. That made him one of the nation’s leaders in three-point makes while he led the country in percentage.

Per On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players, Brea is the No. 71 overall transfer. He also ranks as the No. 8 CG, including currently being the No. 4 one that remains uncommitted to this point.

Dayton has lost four players to the portal so far this offseason. Brea is part of that quartet alongside Kobe Elvis (Oklahoma), Zimife Nwokeji, and Petras Padegimas. In turn, they have since added C Zed Key (Ohio State).

Connecticut has opportunity for a transfer like Brea coming off their second consecutive national title. Several players of theirs are currently testing for the 2024 NBA Draft while a few more have since graduated. That window still remains with a handful of decisions left to make for select players, only one transfer so far in C Tarris Reed (Michigan), and a freshman class of only three commits.

Duke also has several spots to fill following their portal exodus so far this offseason. Seven players, including five from their past two recruiting classes, have entered the portal with two starters, PG Jeremy Roach (Baylor) and Mark Mitchell (Missouri), having already committed elsewhere. There’s less space for Brea overall, though, when you consider that the Blue Devils are bringing in the No. 1 class of freshman in the country for next season. That group has six commitments in it led by the No. 1 prospect in Cooper Flagg.

That’s not to mention their pair of portal commitments from the past week. Over the past few days, Duke added both Maliq Brown (Syracuse) as well as Mason Gillis (Purdue).

Brea has been a hot, valuable commodity in the portal with what he did from deep last season. Now, with these trips on the docket, it looks like either UConn or Duke may be winning quite the portal prize by earning his commitment.
