Windsor (Colo.) four-star offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt is down to eight schools in his recruitment, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Friday.

Among the remaining contenders are: Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee and USC. Schmitt has already locked in official visits with the Sooners (June 6), Cornhuskers (June 13) and Volunteers (June 20), and more could be on the way.

Nebraska was one of his first major offers as a prospect last fall, and he told On3’s Steve Wiltfong earlier this month that he is excited to experience another visit in Lincoln.

“I just love the atmosphere over there,” Schmitt said.

As for the Sooners, he also loves the atmosphere and relationships he is building with their coaching staff.

“That SEC atmosphere in Norman is awesome!” he added. “They put dudes in the NFL, and have one of the best offensive line coaches in college football history in Coach B!”

His trip to Knoxville, meanwhile, will be his first. And he looks to visit USC this spring as well. Meanwhile, the in-state Buffaloes will hope to keep him home, and he has been to Boulder on a number of occasions already.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder is the No. 304 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 24 offensive tackle and No. 2 recruit in Colorado.
