Deion Burks, Princely Umanmielen injury update: Availability report provides status for Oklahoma, Ole Miss contributors
Oklahoma and Ole Miss will meet for only the second time in history and the first time in the 21st century in a Week 9 matchup in Oxford. We now have an idea of which players will be available for that game as the initial injury report was released by the SEC on Wednesday.
The Sooners have had several players out in recent weeks, including receiver Deion Burks. He has not played since Week 4 against Tennessee as he suffered a soft tissue injury. He warmed up before last week’s game but ultimately didn’t play, and coach Brent Venables said this week that Burks is “day-to-day.”
You can view the status of Burks and other players for both Oklahoma and Ole Miss on the full injury report below. Kickoff between the Sooners and Rebels is set for noon ET on Saturday at Vaught Hemingway Stadium.

More on the matchup between Ole Miss and Oklahoma
The last time these two teams met was in the Independence Bowl in 1999 when Josh Heupel was the quarterback for the Sooners and Deuce McAllister led the backfield for the Rebels.
Ole Miss would go on to win that contest 27-25 as McAllister ran for 121 yards and score two touchdowns. This game marks an opportunity for OU to even the series.

The Sooners will have a new starting quarterback once again as Jackson Arnold has retaken the job from Michael Hawkins. Arnold took over for Hawkins last week in a 35-9 loss to South Carolina, finishing that game with 225 yards passing and a touchdown. He could benefit greatly if Burks is able to make his return.
As for Ole Miss, the Rebels enter the game with the SEC’s top passing attack behind 360.1 yards per game. Quarterback Jaxson Dart has tossed for 14 touchdowns this year, with six of them going to receiver Tre Harris, who has also accounted for an SEC-leading 987 yards.
This is a loss the Rebels simply can’t afford if they hope to keep the College Football Playoff chances alive, and we should see the passing game show up even against a stout OU defense.
