Deion Sanders, Colorado partner with Elevation Credit Union to open accounts for kids of football team
Earlier last week, Deion Sanders was looking for a bank with a call to action to partner with some members of the football team at Colorado. The Buffaloes have since found that company in Elevation Credit Union.
Eight members on the roster at Colorado are fathers. With that, Elevation Credit Union has paired with 5430 Alliance to open up bank accounts for the children of those players with a total of $2,121 in savings apiece.
During a recent team meeting, Coach Prime called those players down to the front and prefaced the announcement by emphasizing the importance of fatherhood to him and their program.

“Wan’t y’all to know it ain’t like you’re in trouble. You ain’t done nothing wrong,” said Sanders. “Actually, matter of fact, you did something right.”
“A child is not a mistake. A child is an opportunity to mature you, grow you, advance you, and give you some skills,” Sanders continued. “Y’all know how I am about fathering. You know I would not hire a coach unless he’s a great father. I don’t hire a coach that’s a deadbeat, I don’t hire a coach that’s not taking care of his responsibilities. I would never hire a man that he says he’s going to look after y’all but he won’t look after his. That don’t make sense to me.”

With that, Sanders shared the news of the deal with those fathers on his team.
“We was blessed. I mean, truly blessed. This is unbelievable,” said Sanders.
In the partnership with Elevation Credit Union, the eight families now have savings accounts for them at the bank. There has also been $2,121, in honor of Sanders’ own number of 21, in those accounts for the future of the children of those players.
Colorado consolidated their two main collectives in order to make 5430 Alliance. They merged the 5430 Foundation and Buffs4Life earlier this year in an operation that Blueprint Sports runs. It now benefits all of the over 300 student-athletes on campus in Boulder.
Sanders got this done in less than a weeks time for some of the families involved with Colorado. It’s incredibly generous too with what it could mean for each of the futures of those kids.
“We gonna go beyond this,” Sanders stated.
