Deion Sanders evaluates how Shedeur Sanders has adjusted in Pat Shurmur's offense
Deion Sanders liked the way his son Shedeur Sanders adjusted with Pat Shurmur’s offense for Colorado.
Shurmur took over as Colorado’s offensive coordinator prior to the season after spending the 2023 campaign as an analyst and eventually co-offensive coordinator. Shedeur Sanders, who put up great numbers last fall, picked up right where he left.
His father Deion wouldn’t expect anything else.
“Great. Shedeur is a pro man, you guys know that, I’m not telling you nothing you don’t know,” Sanders said. “Whenever we give him time, we understand the results. There hadn’t been one game in his career here, that he’s had time to do what he needed to do that he has failed you. I just happened to be on site his entire career, and I know what he’s comprised of. The kid can play this game. What coach Shurmur brings to the table is unbelievable. With the communication process, you would have to hear it and understand it throughout the week and sit down, you know, coming together on game plans and situational football and listening to what he sees.
“He may see something out there pre-snap, whatever that we don’t see, because we’re not out there, and it’s phenomenal. The adjustments he makes in using the tablets to his finest moment on the sideline, that’s an additive toward to us, and how he sees the game, he’s played a lot of football.”

This season, Shedeur Sanders has 999 yards, nine touchdowns, two interceptions and a 70.2% completion percentage. He’s on pace to surpass his numbers from last year, his first with the Buffaloes.
At 2-1, Colorado got a much needed win over rival Colorado State following a less than stellar performance at Nebraska.

Sanders will certainly need to play at that type of level to get past Baylor, especially if the Bears shut down the run game. Colorado’s running attack struggled compared to the passing game over the first three games.
Colorado will host Baylor Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
