Could Coach Prime be on his way out of Jackson State?
Deion Sanders is one of the hottest up-and-coming head coach in college football, and rumors have run rampant that he’s in contention for several Power Five jobs this coming offseason. The NFL legend revealed those rumors to be true, but it’ll have to be the perfect fit for him to leave Jackson, Mississippi.
“I’d be a fool and a liar to tell you I’m not going to entertain those things, because I am,” Sanders said on College GameDay. “But I have made no plans to move or go anywhere.”

He’s been rumored to be a top candidate for the head coaching positions at Auburn, Nebraska, Georgia Tech and Arizona State.
It seems a move to the Power Five ranks will be inevitable at some point for Sanders, but until then, his Jackson State Tigers are 7-0 and hosted College GameDay for the first time in program history.
Deion Sanders admits interest in coaching for a Power 5 program
While speaking with CBS in an interview, Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders expressed interest in taking over a Power 5 program. The NFL legend was candid when asked about a hypothetical question about a school offering him their coaching job — stating that he would be foolish not to entertain the offer.

During a sit-down interview with 60 Minutes, Sanders admitted that he would be interested in taking over for a big-name program after his success at Jackson State. Sanders has brought his superstar attitude and flair to the ranks of college football as a coach, and his name has been mentioned many times as a potential target for schools looking to replace coaches.
“What happens when a Power 5 school says ‘give us a number — we’ll make it work?’”
“I’m gonna have to entertain it. Yes. I’m gonna have to entertain it. Straight up. I’d be a fool not to,” said Sanders.
In his third year with the Tigers, Sanders has opened the season with a 7-0 record — bringing his career coaching record to 22-5 overall.
Last season the Tigers finished with an 11-2 record and a perfect 9-0 record in SWAC play, earning a bowl game appearance in the Celebration Bowl against the MEAC’s South Carolina State Bulldogs.
