Deion Sanders jokes about Barstool NIL deal for Jackson State commit

When Deion Sanders shocked the college football world and flipped then-Florida State commit Travis Hunter to Jackson State, many fans speculated that Barstool Sports, Sanders’ former employer, helped the Tigers land such a coveted recruit with a million-plus-dollar NIL deal.
On Saturday, Sanders and Jackson State sent yet another message to the college football realm, landing a huge commitment from wide receiver Kevin Coleman. Coleman is a four-star recruit via the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, making him the consensus No. 8 wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting class, as well as the No. 2 recruit in the state of Missouri. Coleman was heavily considering Miami and Oregon, but on national television during the All-American Bowl, he became the latest recruiting win for Sanders and Jackson State.
After Coleman announced that he would be attending Jackson State, Sanders took to Twitter and poked fun at the Barstool NIL deal rumors, joking that the media company may have had something to do with his latest win.
Sanders takes victory lap, celebrates after Jackson State lands big-time commit
Of course, Sanders took a victory lap on Twitter after landing yet another top-ranked commit. He first tweeted after the commitment that “I’m in my family room doing the nae nae as you read this,” and continued to note that he “tried to warn” the college football realm that Jackson State would continue building a strong class.
Coleman discusses his commitment to Jackson State
Coleman had a long list of schools but narrowed his focus to Florida State, Oregon, Miami and USC. And with coaching changes in Eugene, Coral Gables and Los Angeles, it impacted his decision-making process greatly.
But in the end, Kevin Coleman shocked the world by picking Jackson State Saturday at the All-American Bowl.
“Prime Time,” Coleman said when asked why he committed to Jackson State. “Why not play for the best? He inspired me. Why not be taught by the best? He played both ways. He did everything I want to do.”

Sanders took to social media to react to the news that Coleman was heading to Jackson State. He was admittedly fired up.
“I’m in my family room doing the Nae Nae as u read this,” Sanders said in a tweet.
It was the second shocking pledge in this recruiting cycle for Jackson State.
Five-Star Plus+ Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill athlete Travis Hunter pulled off one of the biggest recruiting shockers ever on National Signing Day when he signed with Deion Sanders‘ squad.
Most observers had Coleman pegged to pick Miami on Saturday. Jackson State was never mentioned by Coleman throughout the week as a possibility. He even did an interview with media members on Friday talking about his finalists.
The star athlete out of St. Louis St. Mary’s moves to Mississippi next week and he will be ready to make plays for Deion Sanders.
“Kevin is a very exciting player that can do a little bit of everything,” St. Mary’s head coach Ken Turner told On3. “He is a fierce competitor that works hard, and he has all the tools. Kevin will be ready to do big things.”
As a senior, coach Turner lined up Coleman all over the field. He started quarterback three games, then he was moved all over the field from quarterback, running back and wide receiver.
On3’s Jeremy Crabtree contributed to this report.
