Deion Sanders Jr. claims Colorado is 'playing against the world' this weekend
It’s been a trying week for people around the Colorado football program, following a 28-10 loss to Nebraska.
The program has lofty expectations, expectations fueled by the high profile nature of the current coach and quarterback. But with those expectations comes an added degree of pressure.
When the Buffaloes don’t produce, they hear about it. Sometimes for very bizarre things, even.
Deion Sanders Jr. pointed to the recent controversy over whether the band stopped playing the fight song after touchdowns so that one of Shedeur Sanders‘ songs could play. He called the claims made-up — they are claims Colorado has refuted as well — and then dove into a speech about how the team is seemingly up against everyone.

“Whatever people believe in, that’s where spirituality comes in,” Sanders Jr. said on the Zero 2 Sixty podcast. “You’ve got to stay prayed up. You’ve got to stay this and that, because it’s daily attacks. And that’s what you try to get the team to understand, bro, this s***’s bigger than football. We not only playing against CSU, you’re playing against the world. The world wants to see you fail. “
It’s virtually undeniable that Colorado is under a microscope. The program gets all kinds of air time despite being just 5-9 since Deion Sanders took over as head coach.

“Every time I pick up my freaking phone, if I do get on Twitter, Instagram, whatever, you see bulls*** about Shedeur or your dad or your brothers every second of the day,” Sanders Jr. said. “No matter what you say. I could tweet, ‘God is good’ and they’re going to say some crazy stuff. They’re going to respond back something. You see that all day every day.
“So like you said earlier, just don’t get on that s***. That’s what you’re telling the team, like don’t even look at it. But people that can handle that, bro, let’s go do something about it. Because you could easily turn a hater into a fan, easily.”
Colorado will be back in action, opportunity to turn haters into fans, on Saturday against Colorado State. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
